So I do not understand why mine is not working, stats says direct play on video and audio, shows codec as HEVC. This is playing live, have not done any recordings.

Best thing probably is to play it and give them the logs.  Otherwise they are just guessing.

Turned on debug option and sent logs.

Then add the following information to your report in the forum:

  • Exactly what you were doing and what happened.  Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem
  • The time you sent the log (in Eastern Time please - UTC -5)
  • The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time

Thanks.

Have you disabled transcoding or remuxing in your server settings?  Your system is not reporting support for AC4 but the system is not remuxing it like it should.

Is the channel actually playing or is it failing altogether?  Looks like a failure on the server:

Channel plays, there are times when I have failures but I can go to another channel and come back and play the channel, but never have audio.

@softworkz The current beta server (.19) fails to transcode a live TV stream to the Android TV app when one is needed.  I've seen the error above and some others (in other threads).

Has this been addressed for the next beta or is more troubleshooting required?

Just an update on this. .20 beta server has been behaving the same way. However, this morning I noticed in the server dashboard that my dad was watching one of the local HEVC OTA channels. It was transcoding successfully! I called him to make sure it was actually working, he had sound and video. So he backed out to guide and tried to play the channel again which resulted in the ffmpeg error we normally see.

Point being, AC4 transcoding did actually work once out of dozens of attempts. Let me know if my logs would be of any assistance with this. Thanks again, ebr.

i have the .20 beta server connected to a hdhomerun 4k flex. ATSC 3.0 channels seem to be working with transcoded, stereo audio on my 2019 shield tv pro and late model 4k firestick. pretty happy that works, cheers to the folks who got things thus far. both boxes are running the latest stable android apk, v2.0.48. i did try the latest .64 android tv beta and fire tv beta but can't get passed the loading spinner for either box when tuning ATSC 3 channels.

a question on the shield pro - should it support AC-4 audio natively without transcoding or is this the best i can hope for at the moment? i read reports on the hdhomerun forums before they started doing cloud transcoding in their app that it could handle the audio for ATSC 3 broadcasts.

That should be corrected with the next beta release of the server.

I think it is supposed to work with the device connected directly to an Atmos-capable receiver.

that's encouraging to hear. my shield pro is connected to a dolby atmos AVR.

i setup a notification in github for the emby server releases and will try it out as soon as the next one drops and the linuxserver/emby beta docker image is available.
