Can I Mix These Two RAM Kits?

They're basically the same RAM but different Data Rates.

There is a possibility it works, as the faster RAM will clock down. What is likely though is that your system gets unstable.

Personally I'm not a fan of mixing sticks with different specifications at all. I've seen strange things happen even if the specs were the same but different manufacturers.

yep bad idea - usually reads to weird errors and the bios may say NO as well

I think everyone will agree ideally it should be the same brand/same speed but any modern motherboard shouldn't have an issue with mixed memory. I've got 4 different brands/speeds in my Dell server at present and have zero issues.  Of course you need to add the memory in banks using the same type.

You could try looking up your motherboard or computer and see what the manufacture says about this as well as not all motherboards are created equal when it comes to things like this.

If you purchase from a reputable vendor you should be able to return it if you have a problem.

The RAM on sale at Newegg is not listed on the Gigabyte Motherboard Compatibility List. I suppose I should pass.
