OlivetIsa 19
Hi, would it be possible to add the possibility to choose the Movies Genre picture Format like it can be done for Movies or TV shows, I'd like to be able to choose the Thumbnails mode in order to use Hulu Style Library Icons made by atomicmoon. For the moment it only appears in a square format with black bars. Thanks in advance.
Solution PenkethBoy 2063 Posted October 12, 2020 Solution Share Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) Ok - you can have thumbs trick is that emby will change to thumb format once you have enough thumb images loaded i'm using Music Genres but the same happens for Genres if you add just one image then you see the above (i have a heavily css customised web app so dont get black bars) - this is probably what you get but your screenshot is to small to tell for sure However - adding a few random landscape images - ta dah! add enough (5 out of 10 in this case) and magic happens - notice the last 5 are now stretched and the first five are not replace them all and ...... same trick applies to portrait images Have Fun Edited October 12, 2020 by PenkethBoy

Basically the majority rules when it comes to which placeholder is used. The issue currently is custom genres will not be maintained without a database hack, so all the dynamic images will return. Carlo 4330
Yea that's still something Luke needs to fix in the backend. Ideally we should be able to choose as a setting the type of graphic used as well (ie poster, banner).

levander 96
If I remember correctly genres and people had dedicated directories somewhere in emby folders, like collections or libraries still have, where you could add/change images(?). Imagebyname went away awhile ago. Everything is in metadata\library\xx\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx folders now. So currently the only way for old style genre folders is to hack the database. Eventually functionality will be readded or a new solution for customizable genre as Luke mentions in several topics on the issue.

Yes, I’m not in a hurry. I have 500+ custom genres here (using them instead custom collections since they are not path dependent). Good to know anyway.
