I published the last experimental version plugin.video.emby-next-gen-6.1.6-build 103 (ex10) as beta.

If you installed latest version, no need to update from beta repo.

Currently no CONFIRMED issues are on my list. Let me know if there are any.

At the moment I'm cleaning code for better readability and easier coding for further updates.

Priority is stabilizing the current beta...

I uploaded 6.1.7, it includes one minor bugfix on initsync.

Hey @quickmic

Love the work you're putting into this, thanks for that!

I'm not sure what changed, but these last few days starting a movie take maybe 6-8 seconds, before it was very fast, like a second.

I recently upgraded my Synology DSM from 6 to 7 as well where I run Emby, so I'm not sure if it's the plugin or the migration that started it.

I'm using the latest stable Coreelec with Kodi 19.3

Want me to grab some logs while starting a movie to see what's going on?

Yes, please. Restart Kodi, wait 2-3 Minutes, start a playback and send me the log.

Problem still occurs with 6.1.5, but maybe the addon is not the problem?

Here are the logs for 6.1.5 with fresh Kodi-install

emby new.txt 93.17 kB · 1 download kodi new.log 58.72 kB · 0 downloads

As you confirmed, this also exists in 6.1.5:

Have you recently changed the plugin version? 6.1.5 is in beta channel since weeks, and nobody reported any issues.

I've rolled back to even older versions which I know worked, but still have the problem where playback stops loading after 1 second. A fresh install of Kodi and Emby didn't fix it. So I'm starting to think it is something else I screwed up.
Emby Theatre works fine on the same pc.

Have you recently upgraded to Kodi 19.3? It's quite new. or have you upgraded Emby server?

Kodi and Emby are on the latest firmware, but that's because I am troubleshooting. The failed playback happens on other kodi-devices too.
Troubles started when my zerossl certificate ended and I created one myself using certbot (after a week of being offline). But checking the ssl results no errors. So that can't be it.

I have no idea what else changed.

Try disable ssl verification in plugin options. If this doesn't help, can you connect via http?

When you mean no issues in your list, that doesn't account for the ones I reported yesterday, correct? It's still not picking up all the changes I make on the server if I change several movies in one day and only open my KODI the next day, and the remote controls not showing.

In mean no CONFIRMED issues which means. I'm not able to reproduce the issue.

I think you are referencing to the Emby dashboard issue? Works fine in my setup, but it's still on my list.

Yes, I am. It's not showing all the commands as before. Namely: Stopping remote playback. Only allows to send a message.

By the way, out of curiosity, I've been checking the plugin option and noticed "incremental sync date" and "time". Don't know if it was there before or not, but what exactly does it do?

I just tried scheduling an incremental sync 1 min later and nothing happened (I mean no popup showed) but is the expected behavior just that of searching for new stuff manually?

Works like a charm on my setup. Can you send me a kodi.log?

I explained that in an earlier posting. First, DON'T use it if you have no issues, it's more for debugging. I haven't found a way to put that in expert mode only which is actually what I want.

The Date/Time is the incremental sync date on KODI STARTUP.

Each Kodi start (and some other events) updates the timestamp automatically but there was no rollback option available.

e.g. if something is broken in the sync you could set the syncdate manually a few days or hours in the past and restart Kodi. Probably this will repair your DB without a complete db wipe.

It reflects the startup sync-timestamp, but don't even think about setting it back a month or so (unless you exactly know how this works and what would be the load). This could result in a huge incremental sync. As mentioned, this is an expert setting!

btw,

@Onana

Yours is also still on my list as not confirmed.

Hi

Sorry for late reply.

I have been away for work.

Ok , I tried 6.1.7 and seems stable enough to use on daily basis, except that I have to restart kodi for it to pick up changes to the library. Probably is that problem that you mentioned on your last post. Later I will try 6.1.8.

Thank you

Thanks.

I seem to have found the source of my troubles.

Recap: Kodi with Emby for Kodi-next-gen over SSL using NGINX (config file: HOW TO: emby with NGINX - With Windows Specific Tips and CSP options) stops playback after about 45 seconds or less and then freezes. While Emby theatre on windows and other devices work flawlessly.

Fix: Changing the following part in the NGINX-config file.

    listen [::]:443 ssl http2;	## Listens on port 443 IPv6 with http2 and ssl enabled
    listen 443 ssl http2;	## Listens on port 443 IPv4 with http2 and ssl enabled
    proxy_buffering off; ## Sends data as fast as it can not buffering large chunks.

    server_name emby.domainname.com; ## enter your service name and domain name here example emby.domainname.com

    access_log logs/emby.log emby; ## Creates a log file with this name and the log info above.

to

    listen [::]:443 ssl;
    listen 443 ssl;

    server_name emby.domainname.com; ## enter your service name and domain name here example emby.domainname.com

Which was suggested in this post too.

I have no Idea why the HTTP/2 doesn't work

Also adding to favorites from context menu is not working

Can confirm that adding to favorites from context menu only adds file to favorites in Kodi but favorites not get synced to emby.

http/2 is currently not supported by the plugin. But you can add both. not sure what's the parameter. I guess ssl http http2;

your subtitle issue as well

I think you can disregard my subtitle issue. 99% sure I've found the issue and it's not related to the next-gen plugin.
