WouterC 0
I first tried to upgrade the installed package 4.4.3.0-1. The upgrade finished but emby server doesn't start. I uninstalled emby server and the result was that all my settings were gone. I didn't take a backup. Damn me. Anyway, if I try to install 4.5.1.0 directly, I get an error that port 8096 was in use. The same error with version 4.6.0.1. I had to install 4.4.3.0-1 again from the synology repository and afterwards I can upgrade. However Emby doesn't start, even it is a clean install. Nothing configured yet. /var/log messages shows: 2020-10-03T14:38:29+02:00 DiskStation coredump: Process EmbyServer[25271] dumped core on signal [4]. 2020-10-03T14:42:06+02:00 DiskStation coredump: Process EmbyServer[31128] dumped core on signal [4]. 2020-10-03T14:44:38+02:00 DiskStation coredump: Process EmbyServer[2890] dumped core on signal [4]. All messages in embyserver.txt are from 4.4.3.0-1, nothing from 4.5.1.0. I rebooted the NAS al several times. I even tried already to set the permissions like described in these forums. info: Linux DiskStation 3.2.40 #25426 SMP Wed Jul 8 03:14:12 CST 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux synology_armadaxp_ds414 majorversion="6" minorversion="2" productversion="6.2.3" buildphase="GM" buildnumber="25426" smallfixnumber="2" builddate="2020/07/08" buildtime="06:13:16" Any idea how I can solve this one? or collect more info? redlabs 1
Hi, i have the same problem. Emby wont start at 414 with 4.5.1.0. It stats for 5 seconds and then it stops.
na876 0
I have the same problem on a DS214+. Installed emby-server-synology_4.5.1.0_armv7.spk it just stops after a few moments. There's also nothing in the logfile. When trying to start it using a SSH session I get: admin@DiskStation:/volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/bin$ ./emby-server Illegal instruction (core dumped) admin@DiskStation:/volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/bin$
redlabs 1
Hi, 4.5.2.0 doesn't solve the problem. After update Emby starts for a few seconds and then it stops again. Has anyone tested the beta release? Edited October 8, 2020 by redlabs Edith

WouterC 0
@Luke: if you have a package with debugging enabled, I can install and test it. With the uninstalling and installing all my previous settings are gone and I have to start over again.
Luke 36997
Thanks for the offer. Right now we have an idea of what we think the problem is. We need to split the armv7 package into two variations depending on models. We should have a package up soon. Thanks.
Luke 36997
Can you please try this build: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.6.0.2/emby-server-synology_4.6.0.2_armv7_legacy.spk Thanks.
redlabs 1
Thanks for the version. The problem is not resolved. The Emby Server starts for a few seconds and stopps. Sry
WouterC 0
Indeed, it's still core dumping. Nothing appears in the Emby log files. Only in /var/log/messages: 2020-10-10T21:53:51+02:00 DiskStation synouser: user_set.c:234 pUser->szName[emby] is EXIST. 2020-10-10T21:53:52+02:00 DiskStation synoscgi_SYNO.Core.Package.Installation_1_install[11952]: resource_api.cpp:289 Release service-cfg for EmbyServer when 0x0002 (done) 2020-10-10T21:53:56+02:00 DiskStation synoscgi_SYNO.Core.Package.Installation_1_install[12272]: resource_api.cpp:190 Acquire service-cfg for EmbyServer when 0x0002 (done) 2020-10-10T21:54:12+02:00 DiskStation coredump: Process EmbyServer[13816] dumped core on signal [4]. Additional remark: I had to install first version 4.4.3.0 from the Synology repository and upgrade afterwards to 4.6.0.2. If I install 4.6.0.2 directly, I get the error that port 8096 is in use. Luke 36997
@WouterC when you say reboot solved the problem, do you mean to say you're able to start the server now?
redlabs 1
For me, a reboot don‘t solve the problem.

Luke 36997
If you're on armv7 and still having an issue, can you please try the latest beta package for your NAS? https://emby.media/download The instructions have been updated and there are two armv7 packages now, so please make sure to get the right one for your device. WouterC 0
@Luke Is it possible that there is a mix up of the armv7 packages? The first armv7 points to: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.6.0.2/emby-server-synology_4.6.0.2_armv7.spk The second armv7 package points to: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.5.2.0/emby-server-synology_4.5.2.0_armv7_legacy.spk That is version 4.5.2.0 (the stable one). I went to https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/ and downloaded https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.6.0.2/emby-server-synology-mono_4.6.0.2_armv7_legacy.spk Core dumped again: 2020-10-11T17:57:30+02:00 DiskStation coredump: Process mono[9797] dumped core on signal [6]. Still nothing in the Emby log files. Tried also: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.6.0.2/emby-server-synology_4.6.0.2_armv7.spk but this one is not supported on my platform. redlabs 1
Is there a solution in progress? Is it possible to return to an older version? It's stupid when the media server doesn't work.
Luke 36997
We are looking into it. Are you willing to provide SSH access to your NAS so that we can test directly on it? This will help us resolve the issue faster. If you're willing to do this, please send me a PM. Thanks !
WouterC 0
@Luke I'm checking how I can limit the ssh access to only your account. The firewall is on the modem of my internet provider and it's very limited. I can only open/close ports.
