jglazer63 16
I am looking at making an Emby server for my RV. Essentially I want a device(s) to sit in a cabinet somewhere and allow me to connect to it from an Emby client via wifi. I am thinking about doing this through using a Pi with the server installed but am struggling a bit with the wifi part. Can the Pi handle it all or do I need to purchase a wifi router? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Luke 36879
Hi, would you play media with the same Pi, or with other devices?
jglazer63 16
I would not be playing media with that pi. It would sit in a cabinet somewhere and I would rely on the emby clients built into the smart TVs to play the videos.
Luke 36879
Ok then yes I would think you'll need a router, unless there's some way to run a router built into the Pi, which I really don't know. @JaScoMa may have some tips.
jglazer63 16
Yea @Luke, it would be cool to be able to have this all-in-one solution. Just build a pi, add a drive and off you go :). I am looking for a cheap wifi router now. The WD Portable Wifi device would be perfect for this as the "box" but emby isn't available on that yet.
