metropical 29
does Emby use ffmpeg in the background? I find that ffmpeg comes up occasionally to run. I know I don't have it installed. It causes my fans to run high and the MBA to get way hot in general. Curious if there's a workaround if that is the case or if I installed my own version would it be more efficient? Emby v 4.4.3. High Sierra on a MBA 2013. i7@1.7G. 8G ram.
Luke 37045
Hi, this is used to convert media on the fly when you try to play something that isn't directly supported by the device you're playing from. Converting media on the fly can be an expensive process, so yes, this is normal. What Emby app are you playing from? If you're using the web app, web browsers have very limited format support, so by using a native Emby app instead you'll be able to direct play more formats without server transcoding. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Luke 37045
We do have an app in the Mac app store, but it requires Catalina. Are you stuck on high sierra?
