It was under shared folder in DSM on synology.

now its deleted so I will try from the beginning.

But this means with a new login that I will have to start all over again with libraries I guess.

I will let you know.

Thanks a lot for your help so far, great service 👌👌👌👌

Hi cayars,

It worked very well after removing the Emby folder from the NAS, I was able to run the setup from the beginning again and all is fine now. So big thanks for your input.

now I only have one problem left, and this is "a good old one" its about remote access. It seems you're the specialist there also, so maybe I could ask you for some help/inputs.

I was dealing with this problem already before my above mentioned issue and I still not get it to function properly.

In-House (Lan) works very well on all my devices.

External (Wan) does not work. I have made the port forward in my router to my IP for external access port 8096 but it seems that its still not open.

when i try canyouseeme it tells that there is no pass through on this port. So somewhere there is something that blocks this entrance.

Could it be that 8096 is occupied by something else...???

Could it make sense to try out different port numbers, and how to do that...??

Could it be a firewall somewhere that I'm not aware off..??

Maybe you have some suggestions that I could try out.

yes, and also there I can't access, it says my login details is wrong

You don't have to login to use forgot password. Can you please explain what exactly you did? Thanks.

the login I was talking about was to the Emby data folder on my NAS.

this is required to could use "forgotten password" but there I couldn't login.

But all is fine again after deleting of the Emby data folder on my NAS, I could do a fresh install, and all is back to normal.

@FrostByte have you tried this before?

Hi Again,

It's hard to explain, here I will try again what issue and what I then did.

If you install Emby on a Synology NAS, Emby will automatically create a data folder on your NAS.

This folder will be created at the same place as you have your folders for music, movies, photos, etc.

This Emby folder is protected with your login details, so like in my case, if you have messed something up with your login details and you are not able to login to Emby

with your login details (wrong username or password), then you will also not be able to login to this folder, which is necessary for reading the txt created by clicking "forgotten Password".

I think it should be possible to clone this folder and move it to new location, by using admin rights in the Synology DSM, but i'm not sure. Then you could read the txt to continue.

Cayars then suggested me to uninstall Emby, delete the mentioned Emby folder, install Emby again. This will then allow you to to go through the normal setup again and

you can create new login details. This was the solution for me, so now i'm up running again by using my old login details.

As I said, it's not so easy to explain by writing, so I hope this is a little better for understanding.

A firewall running on your NAS could most certainly block outside access to Emby.

I often find people setup the port forwarding incorrectly. If you can show a picture of your router port forward page.  Feel free to PM me this since it will likely have your outside IP showing.

If you know how to do a trace route from your network try one to 8.8.8.8 and PM me that info as well.  We're going to look at the first few IP "hops" to see if you might have a double NAT situation caused by your ISP.

I mention PMing me that info vs posting in the thread because this info will have your IP info in it and you likely don't want this in a public forum.

A couple of tricks/tips you can do is turn on logging on your router and try the canyouseeme check again.  You can then see if there is an entry in the log and if so the reason it was blocked.

Let's start with this info and see what we learn from it.

Hi Carlo,

thanks for the feedback and info.

I'm at work right now so I will see what I can do later when I get home and then come back to you.

PM responded to.  Basically looks like there was 2 different entries for port 8096 forwarding, pointing to two different addresses.

If only it was that simple.  Ended up trying to help bacardi8 for a few minutes remotely to find he's sitting behind an ISP NAT.  He's planning on switching ISP/providers so we'll take up remote access later.

Ok so what we're really talking about here is the login issue that's in your other topic, right?

Hi Luke,

All good,

only thing is remote access, I can't access from outside my home network, but so far I will live with that.

It's my ISP, so nothing related to Emby
