What would be the best way to get emby working on a RPi ? Should I go with a simple Rasbian installation and start Chromium? Or is it better to run Amazon Fire TV or Android TV or Chromecast ?

I have a RPi3 and a RPi4.

My TV is a FHD with CEC support.

I have good experience with Kodi, But I'm really looking toward alternative to get other content, like Amazon Prime and Nexflix easily. Kodi is a bit of a pain in this area.

Hi, are you intending to run Emby Server on the RPI4, or just a client app?

I will definitely give it a shoot.

I quickly installed Emby theater on my Linux Laptop, but I con't figure out how to create a "tile" to launch NetFlix or YouTube.

We don't currently have a feature for that.

Hi

My needs are similar, but I on the other hand intend to run a server on Pi4 (don't have one yet). That is probably possible as well, right?

Yes, there are multiple options available to install the server on your PI, depending on what OS you put on it:

Hello, I am wondering what OS is the best to install on RP4 to install Emby? I have tried to get it installed on Raspberry Pi OS (newest available 64-bit version) but every time I try to download I get the error:

Failed to install file" with description:  A package could not be found that allows the action to complete.

Tbh I am not too savvy when it comes to Linux so I am kinda running into a wall with this! Out of all the distro's I've tried to get Emby to work on, RPiOS is the easiest/slickest looking OS I've tried. So I would prefer to get it to install on that distro but, like I said, can't get it figured out lol. I see by this members initial post, that they were able to get it installed on this OS but how do I get it to install? I have downloaded the Debian X64 version from the Emby Server for Linux page, for my understanding is that RPiOS is just a port from Debian...is this the right download or do I need a different one to get this to install and run?

Any information/help is greatly...GREATLY appreciated!!! :)

t4madmin I have always used the latest (and update-to-date) Raspbian OS image on my Raspberry Pi 4.  Raspbian is pretty light weight, functional and stable. I then install Emby from the package options at the following link (select Debian from the drop down menu!): https://emby.media/linux-server.html

Debian Armv7 (armhf) - BETA
  1. Download emby-server-deb_4.6.0.32_armhf.deb
  2. dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.6.0.32_armhf.deb
  3. Open a web browser to http://localhost:8096

Not sure if this is the recommended or best way to get Emby sever going, but it has worked reliably for me.

# INSTALL EMBY-SERVER ON RASPBERRY PI LITE OS (64-BIT) (ver 11 bullseye, kernel ver 6.1.21-v8+)

1. Download emby-server-deb_4.7.13.0_arm64.deb or the latest version to the pi's /opt directory OR directory of your choosing:
   sudo wget https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.7.13.0/emby-server-deb_4.7.13.0_arm64.deb /opt

2. Install emby-server:
   sudo dpkg -i /opt/emby-server-deb_4.7.13.0_arm64.deb

3. Open a web browser to http://localhost:8096 OR the network ip-address-of-your-rpi:8096 and set up emby-server to your liking. When finished, install the EMBY client app on your smart TV or ROKU-like streaming apparatus, and connect via your wired or wireless connection to your emby-server. I hope this works for you as it did for me!

# GOOD EMBY-SERVER AND RASPBERRYPI CLI COMMANDS TO KNOW AND USE WHEN YOU NEED THEM:
sudo systemctl status emby-server
sudo systemctl stop emby-server
sudo systemctl start emby-server
sudo systemctl restart emby-server

Jumping in here just to add I saw that the small and efficient DietPi's software installation tool includes emby-server.  Not saying it's any 'better' than documented above.  Just mentioning it's available on DietPi too right out of the can, if anyone wants to go that route.
