metropical 29
is it possible to add a shared networked drive, on another Mac running Mavericks, on my LAN ? If so is there a thread on that?
Carlo 4330
Sure, see if this might help. https://www.dummies.com/computers/macs/mac-operating-systems/how-to-set-up-file-share-in-os-x-mavericks/
metropical 29
ah, the picture I posted shows that the drives are already shared. My question is how to add them as Emby librarys.
Carlo 4330
As long as you can access them as the user running Emby Server then you should be able to add mapped drives the same way essentially as local drives. You would then just follow this knowledge base article https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159319-library-setup
metropical 29
what am I doing wrong then?
Carlo 4330
What path are you trying to add?
metropical 29
not sure I understand. The path in the snap above. That is the LAN IP of my MacPro with 4 internal drives that have media in various folders.

metropical 29
weird. it wasn't showing up with media, just the "icon" of the folder. Then all of a sudden - poof! I guess the scan was taking longer? In any case, see if I get as lucky with the others. I have way too much media ..... Thanks,

metropical 29
yes. got it. But may I suggest adding clearer info for Mac users, on this page.https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159319-library-setup. Once I added the path, the scan took longer than I expected so I thought the path was wrong or not working. Perhaps an example path like this. /Network/Volume/Name/Users/name/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Movies Shared Network Folder path \\192.168.#.###
Carlo 4330
That article has a link to this one which is about Optional Network Paths https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159320
metropical 29
yes, saw and read that. Just sayin, a little additional info wouldn't be bad.
Luke 37010
The optional network path actually does not impact the library scan. In fact it's not used by the server itself, only by emby client apps.
metropical 29
update. In order to keep the ability to to update the emby server app, I've changed from a cMP3,1 to a 2018 mini The drives must be shared from the LAN'd other computer that they are actually mounted in. As compared to neked drives themselves on the LAN. Then their path is easily found with: /Volumes/YourDriveNameHere/Music
