Unable to play external srt subtitle

I can't show external srt subtitle even I put it in same directory and same name. It always reports some invalid data. So I finally created a test srt with contents below:

as name of seqingnannv.english.srt. My video file name is seqingnanv.mkv.

But it still can't show up with same invalid data error. The error is:

Are you saying subtitles do not work at all?  SRT not working?  Or just your handmade SRT is not working?
