Make TrueHD passthrough selectable on LG Atmos Models

So the only real way to test this is to ensure the file you are testing only has one audio track on it - if it works 'something' is converting it! - or if two tracks, they are obvious differences (language, commentary etc) so you can tell if it's skipping to a compatiable track as @SamES said earlier.

I believe the CX has some new functions with bitstreaming - I don't have this model so can't expand further I'm afraid, but it's possible it could be sending LPCM instead to the TV while the Shield is REPORTING that it is direct playing.

I will dismiss all the irrelevant audio and subtitle tracks from video, leaving just the DTS and truehd and make two new mkvs.

I will post a full Media Info and take screenshots from both Shield and the TV when I get home. And edit this post.

By the way, to those who suspects that Emby server is transcoding the audio track,

On Emby server, transcoding is blocked by me via permissions on dashboard.

I never said Emby is transcoding it - I'm suggesting the Shield or the TV is interpreting the bitstream.

Edit: on LG Emby Client both sample plays directly but no sound at all.

But on Slield test results are in the post below:

The TV (or Shield) have to be converting those.  It isn't possible to send either of those audio formats over an optical cable.

Correct, LG doesn't support it.  If there is a an alternative supported track then LG will select and play that (but won't advise the server or client so Stats for Nerds won't be aware of it) and if there is no alternate track then you will get no audio.

On Shield with test samples both trueHD and DTS there is no another track and I get sound.

Forwarding and rewinding runs smoothly.

If there was any transcode this wouldnt run smoothly.

So there is no transcode.

A '3rd party' is converting the track so it will play - this maybe a LPCM feature or it maybe a Shield feature - but it has nothing to do with emby.  When it 'leaves' emby it is normal True-HD or DTS, when it 'arrives' at your TV amplifier/codec - it is not.  Your TV simply does not support those bitstream codecs - as proven when played by the LG Player (no sound).
