On my andriod devices the video quality is not very good, check clouds.

See below examples one of them is from plex and the other from emby.

Andriod player version 3.1.23

Server version is 4.4.3

It's due to libmpv player as I do not have this issue emby on the nvidia shield (android tv) which uses the exo player.

Thanks

Hi there, what device and version of android?

Hi,

The above was taken from andriod 10 on my Samsung note 9 also have Samsung s6 tablet on andriod 10 same issue.

Is there anyway to change it from libmpv to exo player on andriod phone/tablet os?

Thanks.

Just wondering if the files are HDR?

That would explain it, I guess, as I am seeing the same with HDR stuff.

Yes, it was a high bitrate hdr.

But like I mentioned on my shield tv pro 2019 it plays fine as it uses a different player.

FYI the HD version works fine, so it is just the hdr versions.

Can confirm that as well: On Android TV (Mi Box) it looks way better than on Android Mobile.

Let's see what Luke comes up with...

I also have this same issue with HDR10 on my Huawei p30 Pro and Dolby Vision is not working (Black Screen) and the colors is bland (have some colors less powerful than other like yellow and etc..) on exoplayer the color is more a live (More powerful color etc..) why emby don't just switch to exoplayer for Android Mobile device and all other platforms?

ExoPlayer is maintained by tons of developers and by Google it self [emoji848]

So I hope than Emby do a migration to exoplayer and as well on other platforms like iOS (Not sure if it's supported) but for all Android device I vote exoplayer

Pretty sure than this is a issue with LibMpv plex use a Google Native player called Exoplayer where it's 10000 Times better to render HDR,HDR10,HDR10+ and DV (Dolby Vision)

Plus your post is maybe related with mine

Just fyi

Exoplayer is the one being used in Emby for Android TV as well and there it seems to be better.

@Luke, was there a particular why you guys are using MPV over Exoplayer on Android mobile?

Always wondered and here is a use case where Exoplayer excels compared to MPV.
