Whiskeyjack 6
Hey guys, Not familiar with any of the technical aspects of video playback, so if someone could please let me know what I can provide to help diagnose my issues I would greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to play some 4K media from my local emby server. I've tried a couple different movies and they experience the same issue. Every 10 or so minutes (or as little as 5-10 seconds) it'll stop and "load", then start playing again. This happens on both my 4K FireStick and Roku Premier. The media is "Direct Streaming" and the stats say Direct Play failed. ebr 14903
Hi. Try lowering the bitrate setting in the app. This item is 74Mb/s which is significantly above the stated capabilities of those devices. Try moving the setting down to 30.
Whiskeyjack 6
Hi. Try lowering the bitrate setting in the app. This item is 74Mb/s which is significantly above the stated capabilities of those devices. Try moving the setting down to 30. Ah, thanks for the help. This solved my problem! It's a shame because the content looks absolutely terrible at 30 and gorgeous playing at its proper bitrate. Very disappointing. But it works! Thanks again. ebr 14903
I'm surprised it looks "terrible" at 30Mb/s. That is above any high-quality streaming bitrate. What is the content?
Whiskeyjack 6
I'm surprised it looks "terrible" at 30Mb/s. That is above any high-quality streaming bitrate. What is the content? The file I tested is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I'm usually not particular on video quality but it was was blurry and reminded me of the days when I'd stream movies from random websites. I'll try a couple others, maybe it was bad luck. Hmm the content is only 48mbps, so at 30 it should look fine. Gonna have to mess around with things and figure it out. Whiskeyjack 6
Something just doesn't seem right. Trying to transcode the same file @ 1080p 30mbps (since there's no 4K 30mbps option on the Xbox app) and it maxes out my dual X5670s. Seems a bit excessive for one local file. Plex plays the same file flawlessly at 4K/47mbps. I have absolutely zero desire to migrate back to plex but the performance difference for me is insane right now. I'm at a complete loss. Whiskeyjack 6
I thought you were using an Android TV device...? Hi, I have multiple streaming devices. As the Fire Stick was limited to 31mbps I decided to try using the Xbox One X to see if it would perform better. But it looks like I'm out of luck anyway and the Shield TV is probably the only device that will meet my needs.
arrbee99 1551
Excuse the dumb question, but wouldn't wifi vs ethernet come into it somewhere. I realise decent wifi can be pretty fast, but just wondering if you could run a cable to see if it makes any difference.
