Err0r0815

Hallo,

Translate: "is there the possibility to tell emby that he should only use the folder name for the film recognition?
He currently only takes the file, which emby often can't do with."

Actually you want the filename and folder name to basically be the same for best results.

This covers movie naming well: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming

Here is one for TV naming: https://support.emby.media/a/solutions/articles/44001159110

Err0r0815

Hallo,

Translate: "that's not an answer to my question.
Can vll one of the developers say anything about the topic?
Can you change it?"

NO it's not possible to only use the folder name and not the file name.  Emby uses both the file name and folder to identify movies as explained in the linked knowledge base articles.

@@cayars this isn't true, please update the wiki. When you put the movie in it's own separate folder, the folder name is used.

I made an adjustment to the knowledge base to reflect this.

Just to be clear,  If I was to have something goofy like this:

/Movies/Days of Thunder (1990)/Top Gun (1986).mp4

Emby would identify this as Days of Thunder and not Top Gun correct?

Correct, yes.

Das funktioniert nicht wirklich.

Movies/Top Gun (1968)/tg-bdrip.mkv

Erkennt Emby nicht, nur als Beispiel.

Doesn't recognize Emby, just as an example."

You got the year wrong.

Ich habe einen neuen Film hinzugefügt. Selbe Problem.

He only recognizes it when the file is completely correct with the name and year ...
It's not that good"

What was the path/name you used for the movie?

/Vergiss mein nicht! (2004)/vgmn.mp4

Translate: "/Forget Me Not! (2004) /vgmn.mp4
It only worked when I renamed the file"

I don't see a movie listed at IMDB for "Forget Me Not!" for 2004

I see this movie listed for other years 2009, 2010, 2015.

Without a matching year Emby doesn't know what movie you have and will leave it up to you to use the IDENTIFY feature to manually select it.

When I use translate and input "Vergiss mein nicht!" it kicks out "Forget Me Not!" which is what I used to search for.

If I enter "Vergiss mein nicht!" directly at IMDB it does come back with "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

So as a test I used /Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)/vgmn.mkv and it didn't match for me either which sort of goes with what I thought and said earlier in message #4 that I was told was wrong.

If I rename to /Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)/Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).mkv it works perfectly.

@@Luke you want to take a look at this as it doesn't seem like it's using only the folder name when present but the file name.

Translated for easier English reading.

"This also applies to the film 7500.

Will the developers take a look at that?"
