getting ratings consistently in Kodi using Emby server

Hi,

I use the Bingie skin in Kodi that allows you to show lots of different ratings from IMDB, TMDB, Rotten Tomtoes,....

When you just use Kodi you have some settings in the Information scrapers to get those ratings to load.

Now when i use Emby as a backend for Kodi, I no longer use the information scrapers to get the info loaded. It just gets it from Emby.

Is there something you can do in Emby Server to make sure you get all these ratings properly stored with the Movie, so Kodi picks it all up correctly?

I have some varied success by still changing some options in the Information scrapers in Kodi. The main one I would like to get consistently is IMDB. TMDB i get for all, but IMDB is hit or miss, let's say it picks up an IMDB rating for about 50% of my movies

Any help would be appreciated. If this has nothing to do with Emby, and everything with Kodi i'll have to search further in that direction.

Thanks in advance!

I found this locked topic:

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/57620-imdb-rating-votes-in-kodi/

the first reply from one of the Admins says Emby collects ratings from TMDB, TVDB and OMDB

Where does Emby store that information? I looked into the nfo file, but there is no entry for imdbrating or metascore.

I also read that if you use Emby for Kodi, Kodi doesn't use any scrapers, it just uses the nfo files. If this is correct why do i have such different outcomes with different moves when they have all the same data stored in their nfo files?

TLDR: I'm just trying to find a reliable way of getting all the different ratings to show up in Kodi when using Emby for Kodi addon. :)

Just in case somebody is interested, i fixed the problem!

The solution was very easy, but time consuming. I started over from scratch. Installed Kodi, Emby Addon, Bingie skin and everything worked fine.

The reason it took so long to sort this out is because from what I assumed, if you copied over your c:\Users\...\Appdata\...\KODI folder to a new pc, then deleted the myvideo116.db, thextures13.db and the cache that you would start with a complete new instance of kodi but with all your settings in tact. But somehow even when you delete all those files, Kodi, or the skin, keeps some information stored somewhere. Because of that every time i started with a new DB in Kodi old information was somehow still kept, resulting in the random ratings showing up.

Can anybody maybe shed some light on where Kodi or skins keep cache or anything that could be related to that?

Anyway, problem solved and i've learned a lot of new stuff during the last few days!

For those interested, I really solved the problem now!

I found the "hidden" cache i was talking about in my previous post.

Looks like most advanced skins in Kodi use Skin Helper Service and Metadata and Utils to add a lot of information to Kodi.

For instance, Emby doesn't store the IMDB Top 250 rating for movies. The Skin Helper Service when it runs will add that rating to your Kodi DB

Other items not stored in the Kodi DB like extra ratings like MetaCritics will get retrieved by SHS calling Metadata and Utils. Instead of having to access providers every time it will save some of that information in the simplecache.db (USERFOLDER\...\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\script.module.simplecache).

So far from what i have figured out, this service only runs once when a movie/tv show is added, afte rthat it uses info stored in the simplecache.db. So if you really want to start "fresh" without starting from scratch you need to delete this db too. It will get created again, just like the Myvideos116.db

This is my understanding so far about the Emby for Kodi adon and how skins work. If I'm missing something or somebody feels like my explanation is not correct/complete, please add info. More than happy to learn more.
