etwasch 0
A housemate has an older computer. My media library is on a mac in 1080p, mp4, embedded subs, but he can't play those because his machine is not fast enough. I set up emby server and tried to create a dlna profile for VLC. For identification I have name: user-agent, value: vlc, match type: substring. He sees the server in VLC as UPnP Server and can play the videos, but they are never transcoded. If I set the max stream quality to a low value, the server is not shown in VLC. I have tried different settings for direct play or deleted them, it makes no difference. In the web client the videos are transcoded, but that is less than ideal since his machine is already slow and vlc has much better performance. I've searched for so long and tried so much but nothing works. Are there any parameters to force a transcode to say max height = 720? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? vlc.xml Edited May 24, 2020 by etwasch
etwasch 0
Sorry for asking again: What can I do to force transcode for VLC? Has anybody a dnla xml example file for VLC for me that works for him? There isn't one included in the mac package.
