web client sorts by rating then by name. in ascending order the list starts with the items that don't have a rating. so that's probably what's happening there.

Two things:

1) That's an old version of MBC.  Update at least to 187.

2) MBC doesn't have sort by user rating so I guess you're talking about the web client (which is why you posted it in this forum :)).  Correct?

I don't ever use the web client except to sometimes change metadata.

I use Server 3.0.5302.39454   MBClassic 3.0.191.0   (via WMC on an Xbox 360 extender)

In the past I've been able to sort in Media Browser and look through titles sorted by descending imdb user rating (it was just called "user rating" though). All my files have ratings and would sort accordingly.

After I go into WMC via my Xbox 360 I go into Media Browser (Classic Theme) and along the top are 5 Tabs. "User" "View" "Sort" "Index" "Search".

Within the "Sort" tab you can choose "None", "Date", "User Rating", "Runtime" "Unplayed" "Year"

it used to be that if you selected "User Rating" it would sort them by their imdb scores. Now they simply sort alphabetically. All the other selections still seem to properly sort. This was using the Classic Theme.

And just to clarify, this isn't happening in the web client. I run MB from my Xbox 360 through the WMC extender, and this is where I used to be able to sort in this way.

It's not a big issue, but I figured I'd ask to see if anyone had a fix. Thanks!

I'm currently using Server 3.0.5302.39454 and MB Classic 3.0.182.0

I wasn't sure whether this was a server or client issue, so my apologies if this is in the wrong place.

The issue I've been having is pretty straight-forward. All of the sort filters (Name, Date, Runtime, Year, etc.) work when I'm browsing my movies/tv folders EXCEPT the User Rating filter no longer works. When I apply it, it just sorts everything alphabetically even though all the media has imdb score metadata.

I'm not sure which version I started experiencing this with, but it used to work, and so I was wondering if anyone had a suggested fix, or if this was something that could be looked at?

Thanks.

Oh, that's a textual typo in the Classic theme.  That rating sort is by Parental Rating now, not User Rating.

BTW - the ratings we use are TMDb ratings, not IMDb ones.

Oh I see. Thanks for the helpful info. That was a useful feature, but not the end of the world now that it's gone.

i thought he meant to say the function is still there but that it was labeled incorrectly.

No, the function changed and, therefore, is labelled incorrectly.

This changed way back when MBC was created but the text is still incorrect in the old classic theme.

Same problem here using.
MBClassic 3.0.196.0.7-19.1

Mediabrowserserver 3.0.5326.13255

So is the "Sort by (user/imdb/tmdb) rating" completely gone?

I like that feature a lot. Do you know which is the latest MBClassic version that does support sorting by rating?

I'm not aware of any version of MBC that had the user rating sort.  I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this was eliminated in the initial builds.

Yeah, it wasn't used much because the data from tmdb was considered pretty bad (inaccurate).  That's why I chose to eliminate that one when going through the menus.

I'm sure it worked fine about 6 months ago. Just to be sure i'm talking about the sorting function: "name, date, rating, runtime, unplayed and year" All of them work except for rating (which might have been called user rating). It sorted the movies according to IMDB or TMDB ratings like "8.5" or in "stars" not the parental ratings.

Are me and Spidervalley the only users who miss this great function?

By the way this function works fine in "Media Browser Theater".

OK could we expect a simmilar function? Something like sorting IMDB rating like in MBT? I liked the function a lot (for me the data was accurate enough) and am currently using XBMC but would like to switch back to Media Browser.

Just for clarification - our user rating information comes from TMDb not IMDb - at least I think that is still correct unless we can get that from omdb...  @@Luke?

ok. I use "Media Center Master" to scrape my metadata so I got IMDB ratings. Not sure about the "Media browser" scraper.

I'd like to 2nd that motion of reinstating the sort by reviews.

I also use Media Center Master, and sort by rating was by default sort..

I've been lost without it  :(

Ps. I signed up just to make this post if that highlights how much I'm missing it.
