Artwork caching - 4.1.19

I am still having problems with artwork caching on rpi2, kodi 17.3 and addon ver. 4.1.19

After doing "cache all artwork" it processes all items quite fast but then the message "Waiting for all threads to exit: 1 (16479)" with progressbar at 100% just stays there forever.

The system is still responsive, I can click cancel.

12:27:01.516 T:1449997216  NOTICE: EMBY.objects.kodi.artwork -> -->[ q:artwork/1738943984 ]
12:27:15.225 T:1449997216  NOTICE: EMBY.objects.kodi.artwork -> [ artwork cache pending/37345 ]
12:27:43.172 T:1449997216  NOTICE: EMBY.objects.kodi.artwork -> Waiting for all threads to exit: 1 (16479)
12:30:01.233 T:1755997088  NOTICE: Previous line repeats 274 times.
12:30:01.233 T:1755997088  NOTICE: EMBY.objects.monitor -> [ xbmc/GUI.OnScreensaverActivated ]
12:30:01.586 T:1449997216  NOTICE: EMBY.objects.kodi.artwork -> Waiting for all threads to exit: 1 (16479)

Is this normal? The log does not seem to indicated that there is any progress.

The artwork does not load faster after this process.

Only scrolling through the movies will trigger artwork caching, but when I navigate away from movies and back again some artwork that has previously loaded, has disappeared again.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hey

First of all, why do you use an outdated Kodi version? If you want to stay on kodi 17 for whatever reason, why don’t you use the latest one (v17.6)?

Have you enabled the kodi web server? It’s mandatory for the “cache all artwork” feature.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes, web server is enabled.

With the previous versions of emby addon everything worked fine. Since there are no more threads for artwork caching (just one), I am having problems.

Maybe it would just be the best solution to replace rpi2 with rpi4 and do a whole new setup with newest versions of kodi and addon a see what happens.

Cheers

FYI

I stayed on RPI2 for now but did a fresh install (LibreElec 9.2.1 with Kodi 18.6 and Emby Client 4.1.19). Emby Server is 4.3.0.30. Artwork caching seem ok now.

The "cache all artwork" process still seem a bit of a mystery because of the log output and the "Waiting for all threads to exit: 1 (16479)" message with progressbar at 100% that stays there forever (see my 1st post). So I did not use it. I did the caching by scrolling through the content several times, which took some time but now seem ok.

Artwork cache is definitely on my list. I haven't investigated yet, but experience the same issues for quite a long time.

As a workaround I use a script at the moment:

https://kodi.wiki/view/Texture_Cache_Maintenance_utility

I haven't figured out how to do this on the xiaomi mi stick. I opened the host in the browser (local ....: 8080) and browsed through the movies this generated the cache. :)
