I have ran into this with several media files, the playback plays fine but if I stop playing then try resuming  from where I left of then the  media does not start,   all it does is crash  the  player, till I close the browser, resuming from beginning then plays fine, skipping seens  also works fine, its just the resume  function.

I managed to narrow down to what triggers the problem, Its files that are HEVC, all files that are HEVC do not resume playback .  Please have a look at this as its really annoying.

I noticed you customized some server transcoding settings. In situations like these, the first thing i would do is try setting them back to default:

>>>>> Non-Default Encoder Parameters
Warning EncoderParametersH264LibX.Preset: Original: veryfast Actual: ultrafast

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Thanks Luke.

I reset but still same problem but I also found that this only happens in chrome(with HEVC), in Microsoft Edge it plays from where I left it fine.

@chrismallia  - Could you please press F12 in Chrome before starting playback. There, go to "Console" clear the log "the circle with a diagnoal line", start playback and see if any errors are logged there.

Thanks

That's not an error. He's asking for actual console errors. Can you supply the complete console contents? Thanks.

Please attach the complete console contents from the time you loaded the web app until the time you encountered the problem. There will be much more than that. Thanks.

I am having what I believe is the same error.  Chrome hangs on resume playback until I restart the browser.  I have to play back the episode from the beginning and manually go to the correct time.  However, it is not only HEVC for me.

Chrome 83.0.4103.116 (Official Build) (64-bit), Emby 4.4.3.0

Thanks for the feedback. That's a good sign because your built-in web app will have all of the changes with the next release of the server.
