Hi I've been trying out Plex and it's to clunky for my liking.

I've come across Emby and it looks great!

I am trying to set it up on my Shield. Internally, it works ok, except I have to manually bind the address of the shield 192.168.0.158 otherwise it gets an IP in a very different subnet. (I don't have any VPN adapters or anything set up).

I cannot see the device externally despite port forwarding on my router. It's really strange as I have no difficulty with other devices.

I've got remote connections enabled, mode set to blacklist (in case whitelist was not working) and honestly I've tried everything.

Can anyone think of other things I can try?

Thanks.

Sorry, it's a bit of a false alarm. It does work, but following all steps, HTTPS is not working.

Domain is set up correctly, but the server only reports as being addressable on HTTP.

If I try 8920 on canyouseeme.org it fails. Rather frustrating few hours troubleshooting this. Any advice please?

So does it work internally on 8920?

Hi Mark,

It doesn't sadly work internally on 8920. I get a connection refused on Chrome.

In order to use https on port 8920 you need to configure an ssl certificate in emby server network settings. Have you done that?

Are you actually putting "https://" in the address bar because otherwise it will try to use http on an encrypted socket.

I helped someone else NOT doing exactly the same.

Luke, thats not strictly true. It will still work you just have to accept the warnings that the site is untrusted.
