maegibbons 1267
You jump to too many conclusions which are not conclusively evidenced by the tests you do. Netflix is an entirely different app that uses different streaming technology including adaptive bandwidth. That TV is using 1st gen Tizen technology Krs Mark A 'like' is always appreciated! crusher11 850
Even 250kbps Emby streams buffer incessantly, I can't imagine adaptive bandwidth making up that difference. Does Samsung Netflix have a stats for nerds?
maegibbons 1267
Whatever, there is an issue with the device/emby app combo. Get a fire stick 4k. Issue solved. Krs Mark A 'like' is always appreciated!
crusher11 850
That's not a solution, it's a workaround. Not that those are even a thing here. Edited May 7, 2020 by crusher11
maegibbons 1267
The TV is old and short of replacing the TV it is the cheapest/easiest/quickest solution to a problem that appears to be only affecting you. And you have never said where you are located. Krs Mark A 'like' is always appreciated! Edited May 7, 2020 by maegibbons
crusher11 850
It's not old, though, really. People just don't replace TVs that frequently. Nor should they have to. The TV and I are both in Australia.
crusher11 850
Just for fun I disabled transcoding for the Samsung user and they were able to direct stream an 8.5Mbps DVD rip for about five minutes before it started buffering, which is pretty much the same result as the 2.5Mbps transcode they get when the quality is set to "auto". So it's not related to transcoding, and the auto setting is selecting a quality way below what it should be.
