Thanks Here are my results: Emby for Android: playback is not smooth (tested on S10 and Galaxy Tab A) Emby for Android: playback is smooth (tested on Nvidia Shield) Emby for Android TV: (convert unsupported audio to dolby digital) playback is smooth, but audio is transcoded because audio bitrate is too high, video stream is copied (tested on Nvidia Shield) Emby for Android TV: (audio auto) playback is smooth, direct play (tested on Nvidia Shield) Apple TV native player (and iOS): playback is smooth because it's transcoded, audio has to be converted and Emby can't deliver HEVC using HLS Apple TV using MPV player: playback is smooth (Direct play) I hope it can be helpful. Ok so you are seeing exactly the same results as me. Choppy on Android devices and smooth on the Nvidia Shield. So is this an Emby bug?
troyhough 57
Are we still working on a fix for the issue with Direct Play 23.976215 fps HEVC files on Android devices? On Emby for Android devices, they DO NOT play back (very choppy!) 23.976125 fps HEVC files still. However they DO play back 23.976023, 23.976025, and 24 fps HEVC files smooth as butter. The 23.976215 files start up a little rough on Android TV devices but iron themselves out after a few seconds. I've tested them on the Shield, Tivo Stream 4K, and onn. 4K puck. I don't have any Roku devices here to test so can't speak to them at them moment. Edited November 17, 2021 by troyhough

Is this an Emby player fix or server side fix? if you pick 3rd party player in settings they play back in VLC on Android devices with zero issue. Luke 36887
For direct play it would be all client side.

NailClipper 3
I am having the same issue. Tried on OnePlus 5T, Samsung S21Ultra, and my Bravia TV. All plays hevc files (from same source) not smoothly. I am not sure if mine is the same issue, because I have different framerate on my media, 23.976023976. I haven't notice this issue before this. I am not sure whether I missed this issue or it is introduced in the recent updates.

Does the Bravia have Android TV I assume?
troyhough 57
Unfortunately, after all this time, the issue still persists with no improvement. My daily effected devices: Tivo Stream 4K, Onn Android TV 4K Streaming Device, and Pixel 6 Pro.
