techywarrior 688 Posted July 3, 2014 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Got some weird issue with a few of the movies I just ripped. One works fine, the other two don't. The movies that don't work all behave the same. In MBC and the web client the player(s) start and then immediately close. movie doesn't work in MBC (player closes as soon as it opens) movie doesn't work in web client (player closes once playback starts, not when transcoding starts) movie WORKS if I play it in Media Player directly (with no sound) movie WORKS in Win8 app movie doesn't work if pushed to Xbox One via DLNA You may notice that the non working movies have AC3 audio but I have lots of movies with AC3 audio and they all play fine. All my other rips are m2ts and this was the first time I used mp4 instead. Why shouldn't AC3 be in an mp4 container? It's just a container isn't it? I'm also not really familiar with the differences/benefits between AC3 and AAC. I seem to have about half of my movies in AC3 and half in AAC. Lol, don't ask why, I don't know either. (AC3 has no business being inside an mp4 container) I'm quite sure most devices in use today came after August 2008. techywarrior 688 Posted July 3, 2014 Author Share Posted July 3, 2014 My computer is hooked up to a receiver via HDMI and also other movies with AC3 play fine. So not sure that's the reason. I'll do some remuxing/transcoding next week (going away for the holiday weekend) and see if that makes a difference. Mostly just curious why this is happening (if we can figure it out). Not really sure why the mp4 codec didn't like exact setup while the default m2ts codec handles it fine.
