Picture metadata for music not being found/downloaded

Everything else is being matched fine, but with music it's a big hit and miss. Most of the artists in my library got identified, but only ~50% of them have pictures downloaded for them. I downloaded Last.fm hoping it could help and logged in in case it would be needed, but that didn't help at all. I set last.fm as the highest in library settings. For example "Alstroemeria Records"  has 8 photos listed in last.fm-s page yet Emby found 0.

Also how to I merge artists? Plex has a option for it (Select couple, then merge under options). Is there an alternative in emby, would help to clean up a lot of them.

My folder structure is basic: A:\music\artist\album\song.mp3

Thanks

I have got the same problem. Plex had also no problem to get Pictures. But I also found a weird behavior :

When I click to manually get covers it finds some, no problem. But when I run the "update metadata" no covers have been found.

I would open the metadata editor and make sure the artist has a musicbrianz id assigned. Once you do this you should be able to use the image download tool to get images from fanart and audiodb. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Alstroemeria Records has id-s for both musicbrianz and theaudiodb, the thing is they don't have any pics for it, only last.fm does. Is last.fm plugin buggy or is it only for scrobbling?

I also asked about merging items, is it even possible? https://imgur.com/EdIHOCa

And yes, Besomorph is identified, but pics are only found in last.fm.

Lastfm does not officially provide images anymore via api:

We should just remove the image provider options for it so that you don't get the "buggy" impression. So for artist images now we still have audiodb and fanart.tv.

mm, big oof. But how is Plex getting the artwork then? Added recently over 2k songs, matched using last.fm and it got almost all the artwork.

My 2nd question got ignored again about merging items, is it even possible? https://imgur.com/a/jLTWHJT (Pls check the link)

They may additional sources of images or a commercial arrangement with last.fm to access their images. We will continue to look new potential sources of images that can be used.

Regarding merging artists, the best way to do that is to make sure the audio tracks have their artists tagged consistently in their embedded metadata, then Emby Server will adjust to that.

All of them are, used MusicBrainz Picard before adding to emby. Emby splits them up on it's own.

We'd have to look at an example in depth, but once you dig deeper you'll see there's a reason, like for example, one of them not being spelled the same, different musicbrianz id's, etc. Things of that nature.

It still comes down to the basic ability to correct manually, by merging them. So I guess merging isn't possible as of now, when will it it become a thing?

Honestly it sucks, was hoping to switch fully to Emby, but Plex still has few things that keeps me from deleting it... :/

If they're tagged correctly, you shouldn't have to do any merging, so what I'd rather do is dig deeper into why it has happened in the first place.
