Shindou12 0
In Kodi's NFO sorting system I am able to edit the files on individual movies by genre and then but it into a collection. When I look at the action section it keeps the collection together. When I have the complete collection of james bond and I select action genre in emby and it shows each movie individually and is very inconvenient. Is there a way for the genre to be connected to the individual and kept in the collection when filtering by genre like kodi's natural system does? It would be much easier to have an emby server to update everything instead of using mediaelch and individually updating the system. Happy2Play 8237
Currently there is not way. I would assume a sort/filter could be built out to maintain genre items within a collection, but it would have to be optional as I would not want it. Luke 36997
I don't quite follow this. Are you saying you want a Collection called Action containing all of your action movies?

Believe OP want Genre to maintain Group into Collection for items within selected genre. So show James Bond Collection for say item Dr. No with a genre of Action.
Shindou12 0
Sorry it was a little convoluted. When I filter by genre (i.e. action, fantasy, comedy) I want my collections to stay together (James bond, bad boys, lord of the rings) and not show individual movies. In kodi's natural filing system with NFO's I am able to go to that genre and see all the collection's in the order that I organized them. With james bond, there are 24 movies and I would like to see that collection when I go to my action section all together instead of seeing all the individual movies throughout the action section. I'm trying to switch to a media server that I can organize on my computer and see it with two different kodi systems. I currently am able to do this with a smb setup but it is annoying having to update each system and when one or two tv episodes are added to kodi it is not able to find them through the system wide search. I have to go to that individual file or have to wait until 5 or six episodes have been added. Currently, I have tried to do this with plex (have to make multiple libraries) and have not been able to figure it out with emby. I want all the genres to be able to be under one library. Luke 36997
When using the genre filters in the movies list they should remain grouped.
Deathsquirrel 741
When using the genre filters in the movies list they should remain grouped. When I filter movies by genre they are not grouped into collections. My understanding is this was as expected because not every movie in the collection may have the same genres. Luke 36997
They definitely are for me so it has to be some other condition causing the ungrouping.

From the library yes, but other factors like Sorting and other filters will change that result. Library by Title, filtered genre Action maintains grouped collections. Deathsquirrel 741
From the library yes, but other factors like Sorting and other filters will change that result. Library by Title, filtered genre Action maintains grouped collections. Emby server 4.4.1 does not work that way for me. I'd think it's randomness on an old server that's been upgraded several times but this server is only a couple months old. With no filters in a movie library, sorted by title I can see my collections. If I click Genres and select the Action genre, the movies aren't grouped. The Sort is still 'By Title' and there aren't any filters shown selected in the Filter menu. I asked about this once and EBR said it was normal IIRC. I hadn't given it another thought until Luke said it should remain grouped. Here's a screenshot of the top of my movie library. Notice that the movie 7th Voyage of Sinbad isn't listed. It's down in The Sinbad Collection. Now here's a shot after I select the Genres link at the top and then select the Action genre. 7th Voyage of Sinbad is now shown because it's no longer grouped into a collection in this view:

Yes, Genre tab itself will provide a flat item display for that specific genre. So I would have to ask where exactly is the OP asking for specific results? Shindou12 0
I figured out one way to make it work. I wanted to click on genre and then be able to see all the collections by that genre but that separates all the collections. I figure out that if you are were all the movies are and then click filter and choose genre then it stays in the collections. This is a more roundabout way of doing it but gets the results I wanted. Using filters instead of clicking the genre tab preserves the group into collections function in the Movies view.
