Why does the app look so poor-quality on Shield TV

So I have another question: The Emby homepage looks fantastic on my desktop and on my LG webOS app but looks absolutely horrid on the Shield TV...poor resolution as if I'm looking at a SD (480p) screen and dull colors. Has anyone experienced this? Has this something to do with some settings on the Shield? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, can you give an example of this?

Hi Luke. Sorry for the late reply. Attempted to take a couple of photos just now, but with all the reflections in the bright light of day I couldn't really show the differences as clearly as I'd like. I'll try again tonight. Should be able to get cleaner photos then. Still, I'm attaching the two photos I did take, first the app on the Shield Pro, then the one the LG TV (webOS). Also please note that the camera post-processing tends to even out the discrepancies. The differences are much more dramatic when looking the 65" screen with naked eyes.

What resolution is the Shield set to?  Have you engaged any of the fancy upscaling options on the device?  What resolution is the TV?

I suspect whatever you are seeing is related to the Android UI rendering and/or the settings on the Shield.

Hi, ebr! Yes, I do also think it has something to do with the Shield TV's internal settings or processing, but I thought that perhaps others here have seen similar symptoms and might have some insight into how to resolve it. My panel is a LG 4K OLED. The Shield Pro, which is a 2019 model, defaults to 4K resolution as well. I have enhancement turned on to AI-Enhanced, but changing it to one of the other settings, or simply turning it off, has no discernible impact on the home screen.

One thing to keep in mind is that Android TV apps run the user interface at 1080p. Video playback will still be 4K, but the UI will be 1080p.

That would make a difference, won't it?
