MSattler 387
Is it possible to have a banner on the front page, and/or popup to announce maintence going on with the MediaBrowser service. It would be nice to be able to announce a maintenance to family and my kids who are at their moms. Anyone else think this would be neat? thanks! 17

ebr 14902
Poor man's answer, but you could use the "Branding" feature to put an announcement on the log in page.
Koleckai Silvestri 1150
Poor man's answer, but you could use the "Branding" feature to put an announcement on the log in page. Neither the Roku or Theater clients show the branding, As such it isn't a very good solution even for poor men. I thought that this feature would be part of the notifications system when it was originally discussed. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be.
ebr 14902
There is a messaging API. MBC supports it. I'm not sure about the others. Is this what you are after? Do we just need to make all apps support the existing messaging API?

Do we just need to make all apps support the existing messaging API? Well, I would say if we have an API for it, we should probably force this for all apps that are grown under the Emby moniker. My family members access my server via ipad/iphone/Fire TV Stick/Web so the solution would have to work for them all.

Know what I mean? If I have a maintenance plan on a Sun, I want the message to be displayed each day until that passes. Thank you for adding it!!
Angelblue05 4130
Yeah, it will depend on if such a feature is created. If it is, I will add support for it in Kodi. At least, for now, the single messages will be received on devices using Kodi (both send text and send message). Luke 36999
Hi, welcome. There is currently no way to do this, but it's been requested before and it's a nice idea. It's a possibility for the future.

miniliQuid 84
+1 for this feature (not a chat function though, more like an MOTD banner on top of the home screen would be nice. Since the branding is on the login, everyone automatically logging in (remember me) will skip past the message, so that's not what I mean here. Therefor something the admin can easily change (OP mentioned banner @ home page) would be nice. I for example would love to smack in my family's face that if they want certain content (shows/movies), they mail me instead of texting, cause the latest episode/movie isn't available yet... No matter how much I remind them of this, it won't stick that I will get to it when I'm ready. Having the ability to place 1 or 2 of these messages on top of the screen would be awesome Edited December 8, 2018 by miniliQuid
SpMCool 4
Hi, I have a few requests that I haven't seen requested previously: The ability to send/receive messages between users and admins and/or users and users. It would be limited to communication with only users on the server which they are connected to. It wouldn't need to be anything major with image or video support, just something simple way for admins to let users know of future downtime. I know its possible to 'IM' users from the dashboard, I am referring to a way retain messages and view them again at future times. The ability to suggest movies to other users. (it would be limited to only users on the server which they are connected to, not external websites/apps)Maybe displayed as a section on the home screen, something similar to how "Latest media" media works? The ability to report issues with movies or episodes to the admin(s) of the server you are connected to. This would be done from the Movie or Episode details screen, this way it would not have to ask the user to provide details on the file they are issuing the report for, instead the system would provide all details on the file and the user would only need to explain the issue. This would be useful if the admin was adding many movies/episodes and happened to name some wrong, a user could report it so the admin could fix it. it would also be useful for users to report if a file is not in the correct audile language. Meaning, all movies on the server are/should be English and one is in Chinese with no English track nor subtitles. The ability for users to request movies or tv shows.Maybe start off with the user just providing details of what they are requesting such as Name, AKA(s), Year of Release, Actors, etc. In the future it would be nice for the system to display a list of results for the type of request, TV Show or Movie, as the user type types in the name (Something similar to how Sonarr works for add series) or a search feature that would search IMDB, TVDB, etc, for matches and return the results for the user to pick from then send that exact movies info to the admin(s). Thanks, Shawn Edited April 10, 2019 by SpMCool

SpMCool 4
@@CBers, Thank you for the link! I am researching that app now and so far it appears to cover a few of the items I requested, so can use it as a substitution for now. I hope at some point that these features will get added into emby so there is not a need for a 3rd party app, but for now I can implement this package to get me by. Thanks again! -Shawn
Dazik 44
Hey guys, How hard would it be to have an option to send global messages? Maybe a notification bar at the top of the webapp. Not sure for apps. Basically, my server is shared within my family. They want stuff, new episodes of shows mostly. I'd like to have a way to send a global message to say "Hey okay cool, It'll be there, be patient." that they will see. Can you even imagine your 73 year old grandmother calling you and going "I need the new game of thrones, it's not there yet, I raised you better!"? I can. Jonathan1683 24
Is there a way to create a spot up top when users login they can see a note like "all Simpsons episodes finished/movie requests completed" etc? Trying to find an easy way to notify users of changes without having to text everyone.
