Hyp3rD 10
Hello, I have several HEVC videos that have glitch’s in the image, mainly at the top of it, but also in the general image (see photo attached). I try the same videos on FireTV, everything is perfect, also on all PC players, no problems. I thought it was the encoding of my media that was the problem, so I tried with other parameters and encoding software, and I have the same kind of glitch ... sometimes more present, sometimes less, but I often end up seeing it during the duration of a video. I downgraded to version 1.7.78 to see if it was due to the Exoplayer update, but that doesn't seem to be the cause. I compared the info media data and I don't see anything different between an episode that works and one that doesn't work ... Direct reading from the server on a Bravia 900e ... I have try with two anothers players on the tv, and the videos play well (VLC and X-Plore) ... I no longer understand anything about it... Luke 36887
Hi there, can you provide a copy of the media info of this video from the bottom of the web app detail screen? Thanks.
ebr 14862
It may be hard for you to tell but is it possible the other players are actually just masking that out?
Hyp3rD 10
I don't think, because I have tried in many others with different "engine" (VLC, MPV, MPC, etc.)... But, I'm not a programmer... As asked, see mediainfo attached
ebr 14862
I don't think, because I have tried in many others with different "engine" (VLC, MPV, MPC, etc.)... I think those all actually have the same engine but, it would be about exactly how the player displays it and it may be that it is masking the outside edge as that was a common practice for players back in the day (and all of those are older). May not be the issue but would be interesting if you could play a test pattern or something to confirm.

ebr 14862
Anything with a static scene for several seconds should work for you to compare the edges to see if the other players are actually masking the edges off.
Hyp3rD 10
Hi, sorry for the delay, but I have made several test. For the green glitch on the top of the tv, it's corrected, it was a weird resolution file issue. But, I have found a another glitch that it's present on many "dark" scenes of many videos. The dark made many very big pixelisations cubes on some spot off the screen. I have this bug with many files, from differents encodage type that I have made and from another's one, but it's all in HEVC 10bit one... I have take some examples on photos thait is attached there. I try the same videos on FireTV, everything is perfect, also on all PC players, no problems. Direct reading from the server on a Bravia 900e ... I have try with two anothers players on the tv, and the videos play well (VLC and X-Plore) ... It can be in middle of the screen that on the corner... I don't know what I can do for this... Luke 36887
Is it only on 10-bit hevc?
Hyp3rD 10
I have made some others tests in the evening and I have found a another batch of files in HEVC 8bit that reproduce the same stuttering... But on all others players, I’m ok... I don’t understand anything in this ******* situation
Hyp3rD 10
I have made other tests with a another encoder software, same result. I'm thinking that it's possibly a problem of compatibility with the Sony tv specificly, but it's on the emby app, the exo, the codec, the cpu performance, I don't know what to do with this... An idea?

ebr 14862
I will test your sample but, if this is only happening to you on an Android TV running 5.1, I don't have one of those. The only device I have running Android that old is an original Fire TV. Edit: or maybe I mixed up this topic... what version of Android is your TV running? ebr 14862
I can reproduce this slight processing issue when direct playing the item. Transcoding it cleans it up. Is your TV the only one direct playing it? BTW - this is a tiny blocking issue for about 2 seconds in that one scene. Looks to be related to the contrast of the reflection of the counter in that scene.
Hyp3rD 10
AndroidTV 8.0 on Sony 900e with 1.7.92 Emby app All of my players work in directplay with no problem, but when I do my tests, the TV is the only one in reading. It is true that these are only small temporary problems, but it happens in a lot of files, and I wonder what to do to resolve everything, is it my fault, that of Sony TV, etc ... C 'is more what worries me, because I hope I don't have to redo all of my encodings, because if this is the case, I will abandon the adventure :' ( ... ebr 14862
I really couldn't say for sure. It could just be a matter of maxing out a bitrate or color value as that looks like some sort of digital "clipping" (where numbers overflow to the point they are all the same and, thus, create a solid block). Perhaps @@softworkz would have some ideas.
Hyp3rD 10
What's weird is that it only happens on the Sony ... If I ever decide to buy an external player, which would be the best to always be live and have the least technical / reading concerns? (4K HDR, etc.) I'm not here, but if it's the only solution at middle term, maybe... Thank you!

Hyp3rD 10
@@softworkz Well, the question was to understand why some glitch’s are present on the Sony, but not on all others players that I had tried... Why re-encode, storage! But I have read a lot on the subject, and normally, the settings is supposed to be good... I have add you to the pm of the file that I had send ebr if you want to check it, you can make your own opinion... thank you!
softworkz 3301
Why re-encode, storage! That's a very bad reason. Storage is cheap enough. I can only recommend to avoid doing this. TV's are mass products using embedded systems for decoding having resources that are chosen to exactly fit the required purpose given the proposed and supported specs. That's why it's clear that these can be less tolerant towards video encoding problems. I'm sometimes thinking whether we should offer video encoding classes - but in the end, buying a new HD would be much cheaper... ;-)
