DVDSUBS disappearing randomly

I've been messing around with a HEVC video file with dvdsubs which isn't working correctly.

Sometimes the subtitles are showing and sometimes they aren't, and sometimes it's like they are trying to spool up in order to catch up with the video, where they most of the time fail to match the video timer and shows the subtitle 1~ seconds to late.

 

Emby server is 4.4.0.40 hosted on Ubuntu 18.04.

Media is being played on a Chrome browser.

 

 

I don't know what to troubleshoot next and if any of the changes I've made really matters, but here are some of my current settings that I'm guessing could be somewhat useful.

 

Transcoding settings:

Hardware acceleration = Yes

Throttling = False

Audio boost = 1

H264 preset = Auto

H264 CRF = 23

Extraction on the fly = True
