mpv.conf ignored

Hi.

I'm trying to get emby theatre to use a specific audio output through using mpv.conf but the file is always ignored.

So I entered logging options but it never logs either so it's not reading the file.

I've tried putting the file in the mpv folder under roaming and also the mpv folder under the emby theatre mpv folder in roaming but it's always ignored.

What's going on?

I'm not sure where exactly you are putting the mpv.conf but mine is in:

C:\Users\Mark\AppData\Roaming\mpv\mpv.conf

That's where I originally put it too.

I tried restarting computer, I tried deleting and remaking the .conf but nothing works. Only thing I have in there is logging turned on

I tried in:

C:\Users\Server\AppData\Roaming\mpv\mpv.conf

and in :

C:\Users\Server\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theatre\system\x64\mpv\mpv.conf

mpv.conf

log-file="D:\mpvlog.txt"

msg-level=v

Do you have ET setup for unset (use mpv.conf)?

Just have one copy in %appdata%\mpv

Hi.

I have only one copy of mpv.conf but what does this mean:

"Do you have ET setup for unset (use mpv.conf)?" ?

In settings under video, at the very bottom.

this option only affects the HW acceleration setting, and has nothing to do with the general use of mpv.conf

correct placements on windows are:

%appdata%\mpv\mpv.conf

or

...mpv.exe
...\portable_config\mpv.conf

the later one will be deleted on every ET update

I just tested your config, and it worked for me.

Is ET actually running as the 'server' user?

Otherwise, I suspect a write permission issue.  Try putting your log file in a folder, rather than the root of the disk.

** also, are you using the windows store ET? Or the installer from the website? I suspect that matters.

Is ET actually running as the 'server' user? - Yes it is.

Otherwise, I suspect a write permission issue. Try putting your log file in a folder, rather than the root of the disk - I've tried deleting the mpv folder under Roaming and recreating it, it still didn't work. I tried deleting the same folder again and placing the mpv.conf in the mpv.exe folder with the log location being the same. I even set folder permissions to everyone full access to make sure it wasn't a permission issue. Nothing seems to work, the mpv.conf is never read.

also, are you using the windows store ET? Or the installer from the website? I suspect that matters. - From the website, Desktop installer - I found the store app crashed a lot and was more buggy.

Well, I'm stumped. You tried everything I would have tried.

I'd probably install on a 2nd machine and see if you can get it working there, and then try and figure out what's different.

Hi,

I installed emby theatre on my laptop and it worked fine.

So I uninstalled theatre on the problem machine, restarted it then reinstalled theatre again, this made no difference.

I also checked for any left overs after uninstalling and there weren't any.

I then tried creating a new user profile (admin) and installing theatre again in that profile, but still the conf is ignored.

This is bizarre.

I tried running mpv via the command line with logging options enabled and this works perfectly.... so this must be an emby issue

Some OS installations create inhibitions for the logging location. I need a lot more information. Post screenshots of all the locations you've tried, text strings, mpv.conf texts etc. I need to see them, don't post the text, post pictures. And describe the platform on which you're trying to do this.
