It crushed again, not even bother to send another logs...

Curious thing though, this time when I entered the DSM > Package Center > Community > Emby Server it said 'stopped'. As opposed to last time when it was saying that it is still running. So I just hit run and it restared.

Are you testing me if I am not leaving my server room during the quarantine or what?

No crash today, but noticed that Convert option does not work either. And I was heavily converting my media on version 4.3.

There is something really broken with the current Synology built, yet nobody is answering.

We are also seeing the same. On most recent version of Emby

About every 2 or 3 days we find the Emby service stopped on the Synology, clicking run gets it going again.

The logs stopped at 10:30 last night with no real details of why.

I wonder if the synology has any logs that would help

And this is a recent development starting about 2 weeks ago ish

Same here every day now. Synology built is broken and I'd rather go back to 4.3 if that's somehow possible and wait until the problem is fixed. Sad thing is that I think nobody is following this thread, just the ones that have this problem.

It's been 3 days so from my calculations it should have broken 3 times by now. Has it?

For me emby works now if I only use it via kodi (As soon as I connect with the emby app on android it starts to increase in ram usage until it eventually crashes / Takes about 1h). That's not how I would like to use it or how it is intended to be used tho...

Still the ram usage of my disk station is increasing while emby is running over the days and it will never decrease until emby crashes. To me it seems like there is something seriously broken.

Again, if you need anymore information or if you want me to try / test something, please let me know. I was really happy with emby and this is the reason I am stilling hanging in here, but I won't be forever and espacially not while paying 5$ a month.

Thanks

I've just seen this topic. I'm running Emby on a 918+, Emby version at present 4.4.2 (auto updates running). I have Port Mapper installed, plus whatever other plugins are installed by default, and a few others. I haven't had a single unexpected reboot in the last 6 months or more.

If there is any info you want from my setup, please let me know.

Hi,

Seeing exactly the same on my DS918+ DSM 6.2.3-25426 Emby 4.4.3.0, I can't say exactly when it started happening, the last change I recall making was adding a picture for one of my users.

In this topic there seems to be a lot of mention of removing Plugins, with no explanation why they have suddenly become incompatible?

I'm also wondering about attaching logs in an open forum as aware it contains my external IP address and not sure what else it might make available.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Luke,

Fingers crossed, since posting not experienced Emby stopping so no useful logs, if it fails again I'll PM you as requested.

Hi guys

I also noticed that my server stops some times, it depends of "something", I can't figured out why, to my side, the server is in "not respoonding state" (I check with UPTIME ROBOT). in the synology web ui, emby server is :

  • RUNNING but the UI said "to many files open" and I cannot use it

or

  • STOPPED

I tryied to search, in the logs and I noticed that the MONO-SGEN process of emby server is growing up, it seeams to depends of the utilization of the emby server. when my server is down, MONO-SGEN is up to 2 GB of RAM (got a DS916+ up to 8 GB of RAM)

Restarting server reset the MONO-SGEN ram utilization and the server is back online.

today the mono process is up to 754 MB of RAM with a low utilization of the service (near 4h in a week, 15 min today).

I'll try to use th service a few hour per day and check the MONO-SGEN process and I will share my feedback.

let me know if your mono process is growing without releasing the RAM like me.

Update from my side:

Monday Emby is still running now from Friday.

The MONO-SGEN process is now up at 414MB. So it looks like there is a Memory Leak.
Can someone from the dev's response to that? With a normal out of the box Synology it will "crash" / run out of memory ~1day. Now with more memory (8GB instead of 1GB) it will run longer.

What log files are needed how can we help to pin down the memory leak?

thx
Alex

Hi guys, process is up to 1.7 GB of RAM today, the server is down but now with a "too many open files" screen

I've got many error due to uptime robot I guess. Is there a way that UPTIME ROBOT checks are flooding the server ? causing too many connections and RAM grows ?
