atropa 8
Hello everybody. I wanted to ask if anyone knows load balancing with the pfsense. I have 2 internet connections. One with 50 mbit upload and the other with 40.In the browser, load balancing works very well with pfsense. As an example: I upload a file with 45 mbit. at the same time i start uploading another file. Now the upload is split up. One file gets 50 and the other 40. Is this also possible with Emby? `As an example: 1 user watches a film that uses 45 mbit upload. Then another user comes and watches a film that uses 30 mbit. Is it possible that these 2 streams are divided as it is possible in the browser?
Luke 36886
Hi, we don't have any built-in integration with pfsense, but @@Gilgamesh_48, @@vaise, @@Hoover037, @@pfreeman, @@fizzyade, @ and @@appoli may have some tips.
Gilgamesh_48 931
I have never tried anything related to "load balancing" because I have never used more than one internet connection at a time. It is an intriguing however and it would be interesting to try if I ever get into a situation where there are more than one ISP. Right now, where I live, we have Charter at 100 mbs and really nothing else. We do, technically have AT&T but the highest speed available is 4 mbs and that is not practical for anything in the real world. If there were more than one available I might try load balancing to get everything working well. I will be interested to hear what, if any, success anyone has with this or any similar solution even though, currently, I would not be able to use any such solution. maegibbons 1267
Your issue will be routing. Uploading and load balancing 2 OUTBOUND ORIGINATED streams is one thing and quite easy to do. But load balancing to two EXTERNALLY REQUESTED streams is different. Your external connections would have to hit one of two seperate ip addresses and each would have different forwarding to emby server. You would have to have a proxy in front to handle that. Sounds very messy and totally outside of emby Krs Mark p.s. There are ways to do this with cisco kit and mlppp and service from the same ISP for two connections but the ISP has to support it on their LNS.
