It's a 2017 model shield, just with a 2019 remote.

You have to sideload the beta for some reason, Google isn't updating.

@ebr, Are you still having trouble with the playstore? My two 2017 Shields are both still on 1.8.00g. I see that the current beta version is 1.8.05 yet the playstore on the shield consistently says I have the latest version installed.

Thanks  jordy

Having solved this problem by sideloading, I have another request.

Any chance of having the ability to resize the icons. I have a 4k screen and it displays huge icons, if they were smaller I could reduce scrolling by half or more.

I've looked everywhere but cannot find such a control. Please point me in the right direction if there is one.

Thanks  jordy

Check the settings for the library as the user on the Android device.  You should be able to select small, medium or large icons!

@ebr Have we lost the REMUX flag in the OSD again?

I'm watching a video which is remuxing the audio, but the OSD is saying TRANS.

The log file being crrated is an ffmpeg-remux one.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks.

What version are you on?

My Mi Box is still on 1.8.00 and it hasn't lost it yet.

Just wanted to report the same, I have been stuck on 1.8.00 for weeks now.

What's the issue with the PlayStore?

Just an FYI: Google is behind on some things and have stated approval process can be much slower due to Covid-19.

Correct and I think the problem is two-fold.

1) They are reviewing even our beta releases now and have put us in an app category that requires "special review" (no idea why and no they won't tell us)

2) I think each time I submit a new beta, it just cancels the previous review and re-sets a new clock so they never actually make it out to the store.

Downloaded the latest beta. For some reason, the play / pause button no longer functions correctly. It will pause, then unpause right away. And if you're paused, same thing, it unpaused, then pause right away.

Yeah, this was a conflict with the new media session stuff I put in.  I think the next beta will solve it and keep the session updates.

Thanks for reporting.

It's not the library contents that I'm referring to. It's the Home Screen. I don't see anywhere that I can adjust the icon size for this screen

EDIT: btw, I should say that this is on my 2017 Shield. Not worried about the WebUI or any other device. thanks

v1.8.05.

Then it must have changed in between of 1.8.00 and the latest beta.

Might be of interest for @ebr. :-)

The only thing you can adjust there is the display for "My Media" which you can change to a "small" presentation (button tiles).

Yep, I know that one. but I prefer the larger icon in the WebUI. I don't like the "small" buttons. In a browser I can adjust the zoom to give me the layout I like BUT I cannot change the icon size in AndroidTV, it looks pretty ordinary on 55" & 65" UHD screens.

Any chance of having a resize option? I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks its a waste of screen real estate having Icons that large

Options are possible in the future.  That is a fairly standard size we are using across all the TV presentations.

Actually, I'd have to disagree on that statement. Check out the title/icon sizes in the Shield interface. It is much better at using available screen space - more information but still perfectly readable. Even my TV interfaces - one Panasonic and one Samsung use much smaller tiles/Icons so there's 3 very popular interfaces that also disagree with you. Just sayin' :)

Hi.  I said our interfaces...  The sizes we chose were modeled after those used on the Apple TV.

But, I think the sizes on the Android TV home screen are even larger...
