iPhone Emby app Connection Failure

I just created my account, linked my account to my dedicated server (online server, not on my home computer or network). 

 

I can access my account and server via my computer on chrome, but when I try with the Emby app or the chrome app browser, I can see the server, but I cannot connect to it. I get the message: Connection Failure.

 

I've tried using wi-fi with the phone, so I can be on the same LAN than the PC, and the phone's internet connection. Same results.

This post is for a home base server, accessed from internal or external connections . My server is an online server. And it works perfectly with my pc’s browser. When I use my iPhone, I get a Connection failure on both apo and browser(chrome).

Yes, and it does not change a thing. The issue is not the server link with Emby, it’s the mobile version of Emby connecting to the server. On my pc’s browser, everything works fine.

What exactly did you do or try? The issue is most likely with the server machine blocking the connections from other devices.

Since it’s not router, firewall, local address related, the only thing left for me to do was to try all the possible ways to enter the server’s address manually, and it would nit connect. As far as the dedicated server, the only option I have is to install or remove the emby server application, I cannot access options. And Emby connect is an eternal loop that comes back to the connection page.

Where does the ssl certificate come from? if you're certain it's not an issue of connectivity, then the next most likely explanation is that the iOS device is not trusting your certificate.

Now you’ve lost me.Why would chrome on my pc would trust it, while chrome on my iPhone (which I use with the same id) would not? If dedi seedbox offers the Emby application on their servers, I would think both dedi and Emby make sure everything is compatible??? I may be too old and dumb for that sh@t!!! An https address isn’t supposed to be secure?

So, just because one "os" accepts the ssl cert doesn't mean the others are as accepting..       I found browsers will usually accept somewhat shady certs,  while TV apps and phones are a little more picky.  Yes the traffic gets encrypted, but some operating systems try to protect their product by making sure someone has a really, really valid cert lol...     They do it so bad guys cant build servers with shady certs and trick the customers and take advantage..   What luke says is valid.

Since I used my office PC to create and setup everything, at the end of the day, after all the posts you sent and I answered, I got home. Tried my Roku’s Emby app, my home PC, and my iPhone app again, and still got connection failure everywhere. And if you can see the picture of the security results of my server’s address, everything seems A1. The only place I can access my Dashboard is on my PC at work (tried it yesterday to try to find if I could find a stupid box I did not checked, or advanced option I missed.

I’m really angry at myself for not being able to work that out. Wanted to get rid of Plex and start with what seemed to be, as everyone was writing, the best solution. But it seems I may be getting old!
