Problem playing a movie

Good Morning. I'm having trouble playing a specific movie. On TV (LG, WebOS 3.5) the video doesn't even play, the message of incompatible stream appears. On the smartphone the video starts but then stops and the statistics say "Playback Method: null". The film in question is a mkv with video in h264, High, Level 5.2 and ac3 stereo audio. Total bitrate of 2.5 Mbps. I configured the server with a maximum bandwidth of 15 Mbps and the client at 1080p 4 Mbps. All other films with bitrate up to 4 Mbps play smoothly. During the playback attempt I looked at the NAS task monitor and saw that ffmpeg was active. I wonder what he was transcoding. Do you know what may be happening?

Hi there, did you explore the stats feature in the video player to learn why it was transcoding?

This is the problem. The reason does not appear in the statistics, nor does it even appear if the server is actually doing transcoding. The information presented to me is incomplete. So my doubt. Only playback info (null) and media infos appear. Nothing more.

When the video has pgssub-type subtitles the WebOS player refuses to play. The same happens on the smartphone. Even if the subtitle is disabled, the video does not play. The server doesn't even try to transcode. There is also a similarity in the files that are causing problems, in addition to the caption pgssub: all are h264 and have level 5.2. What information do you need to find out what the problem is?

What information exactly?

Media Playback Issues

  • Please create a topic in the community.
  • Describe the problem in your own words, including what you're trying to accomplish, and where you're getting stuck. Make sure to indicate which Emby App you're using. If you're using a browser, then please indicate what browser you're using.
  • If you saw error messages, please tell us what they were. If the problem is difficult to explain, please include screenshots that demonstrate the issue.
  • Please attach the server log from the time frame the activity occurred. See the section below titled Emby Server Logs. Please supply the full and complete log file, and avoid attempting to extract relevant sections. Everything is relevant to us. If a server transcoding log was also generated during playback (in the server logs folder), please attach that as well.

You've already done the first three.

I suspect it is the level 5.2 and the media should be transcoded. See the first chart.

Post a server log.

Apparently the server didn't even try to transcode.

On the smartphone the video doesn't play either. By the browser it works.

I included the logs created when I had the problem. Some of them must have some useful information.

This is correct, it will be level 5.2 that is the problem

@@Luke, you will need to rearrange the current level logic so that the checks for tizen/orsay/web0s/netcast are at the start and limit the level to 5.1 before performing the other checks.  This will force it to transcode automatically
