lee_marshuk 0
Hello there, I have just switched to Emby from Plex, but I cannot get the Alexa skill to work at all. No matter what instruction I give it, it cannot find any music to play. For example, I enter the Emby skill and say: "Play music by artist 'X'." The response is: "I could not find 'X'. You can specify the media type by saying...." I have loaded the Emby app on my phone, and can see all my music correctly categorised and tagged there. What have I missed please? Many thanks in advance. Lee
ebr 14903
Hi. Can you make a more general command work? Also, if you search with your phone for exactly what Alexa responds with that she cannot find, do you get any results?
lee_marshuk 0
Hi Ebr, Really sorry for taking so long to reply, so yes I can confirm if I search on the app for exactly what Alexa responds she cannot find, I do get results correctly. I used the example of Fleetwood Mac, but I tried a few variations and have the same result. I decided to use a more generic command - here's a transcript: Me: Alexa, Open Music Alexa: Emby here, what did I miss? Me: Play some music Alexa: Currently Playing ('Random track') This worked correctly. I repeated this and it worked correctly. It picked 'Don't Answer Me' by 'Alan Parsons Project'. Then as a test: Me: Alexa, Open Music Alexa: Emby here, what's up? Me: Play songs by 'Alan Parsons Project' Alexa: I could not find 'Alan Parsons Project', you can try specifying the media type..... Thanks for your help so far and look forward to hearing from you. Lee
lee_marshuk 0
Hello, By way of an update. ebr 14903
Interesting. So the skill may not be properly translating an artist into songs... @@chef is this something you can look at?

bigfry 3
I was getting very similar if not identical results here at my house when I tried Alexa. I finally got something out of it last night when I said "play music by Paul Simon on this device" and got the album U218 by U2... I've included an anonymized snippet of the server log from last night and it sure looks to me like Alexa asked Emby for Paul Simon (who is in my music library and playable). 2020-03-22 20:20:09.650 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://emby.biggravy.zib:443/emby/Connect/Exchange?ConnectUserId=31578. bobcoupee 0
Hi Is there a fix due for this anytime soon? I ask because I have just enabled the Emby Alexa skill and am getting the same behaviour: Emby can play an indiviual track, but if I ask it to play "artist X" or "music by X" or "music by artist X" the response is "X cannot be found you can try specifying the media type....". Thanks.
