Exo finally put out a new release so we've updated to that in this beta.  They fixed some key things both that have been there awhile and that were caused by the initial 2.11 release we tried to move to in the last beta round.

Please test all playback but, especially, DD+ 7.1 (should no longer require a downmix) and any video files you have with FLAC audio.  Also be sure TrueHD and DTS-HD are okay as some of those were broken in their initial 2.11 release.

Thanks.

Correct.  Amazon is way behind on its Exo port - but most of this stuff doesn't apply to the Fire anyway.

It is already out on the Fire and Google shouldn't be much longer.  Yesterday's release made it out fine.

Thanks.

Updated to .83, now all my Blue-ray rips are transcoding and buffering, on one of my Android boxes (Nvidia Shield is OK).  Prior to this version, everything played correctly.  I also tested on a similar, but less powerful box and it is Direct Playing of the same video.....

Here it "Men in Black" Blueray rip "direct playing" on my Beelink GT Mini 2 running version 1.7.80.

Attached File  direct play.jpg   85.22KB   10 downloads Attached File  1.7.80g.jpg   30.36KB   10 downloads

When I play the same video on my more powerful Beelink GT King Pro (Amlogic S922), it transcodes and unwatchable............

Subtitles or turned off and only DD selected, not any HD audio codecs.....

Attached File  embyserver.txt   9.04MB   1 downloads

Edit: I also update the server to 4.4.0.14, but made no difference.

did you explore the stats feature in the video player to learn why it was transcoding?

Just updated to .83.  Before I updated though I played a movie with DD+ 7.1.   It sounded kind of weak like it was regular DD 5.1.    The video also seemed like it was playing back a little jerky at times.  I assume those were signs that you were down mixing on the fly?  because it said it was direct playing and there were no remux logs.

After the update the DD+ started to boom, but it still says direct playing.  So I guess it's working

Transcode reason: unknown.

Edit:  Ran more test, it is the UHD movies that are having this issue of transcoding, not the 1080p videos.

DTS-HD X triggers on my soundbar, so does TrueHD Atmos and DD+ Atmos.  Everything seems to be working there

I can't play any 4k videos anymore with .83. Doesn't seem to matter what audio I have, they all transcode down to 1080p. Reasons are either unsupported audio or unknown. 4k worked fine before the update.

What happens when you try?

I have no audio on a downmix to stereo 2 channel setup. I get system navigation sounds but no sound during playback, stats for nerds is showing 5.1 output when that shouldn't be requested.

Hi @ebr

With .83 AAC_LATM is now being remuxed to FLAC in ffmpeg and I have no sound on this TS media.

Logs sent just now 9.35 GMT

Can confirm also that in progress recordings dont play direct any more but they are suffering the same remux to FLAC issue when they should just be stream COPYING the original AAC_LATM for local client processing.

I have the original 16GB Nvidia Shield.   It's plugged into a Toshiba TV via HDMI with just the TV speaker output.  1.7.83G killed audio output for all HDHomerun channels.   The same issue exists in the Channels App but not in the HDHomerun App.   Emby was working fine until the 1.7.83G upgrade.
