Multiple issues with Channels and Podcasts

Since coming back from holiday a few weeks ago, I have been trying to sort out all the issues with the new updates/additions added to MBC and Server. My 2 biggest issues left (besides ROC not exiting MBC) have to do with the Channels app (specifically the TWIT app) not streaming the HD version of the streams even though the server is set to 1080p. Since the TWIT app wasn't working to the wife's satisfaction I tried going back to the Podcast plugin but now that will only stream the feeds as an audio feed even though it's a mp4 video file. The 2 feeds I have setup in the Podcasts plugin are:

http://feeds.twit.tv/ww_video_hd.xml
http://feeds.feedburner.com/WhatTheTechvideo

What the Tech displays that it's a video feed on the icon but it also just plays as an audio feed.

Also, the new player in MBC is great but the skip fwd/rev buttons don't work in the channels app.

the next server release should resolve a lot of the channel playback issues with mbc.

Thanks Luke for the update on what is going on, and what you are doing to get things up and running correctly.  I'm not program savy so my import may be of no help, but if this helps you might want to look at how everything functioned before the change and see what might be different to the new change.  I know program coding is tricky and difficult, so I will leave it at that.  Thanks again for doing what you do to make media browser 3 a stellar program for all.

The WMC player cannot skip in streamed content.

That's too bad but thanks for the update on it. I may have to just set it to use the old player due to no skip and also not being able to jump to a certain point in the timeline.

I doubt turning off the new interface will make a difference.  WMC won't skip/seek in streamed content.

It does actually. I skip the ads in the streamed content all the time via the skip fwd/rev buttons. That was the biggest issue my wife has when she was using MBC that the skip was gone on the streamed content. And I believe you can also seek via time entry and clicking play if I remember correctly.

So these functions work on the exact same content if you turn off the new interface?

AKSkins is right. before Podcasts were moved into the Channels directory you could jump skip forward and skip ads, but since it moved it no longer does that.  just chiming in...

But my question is, right now, with the same stream, if you turn off the new player interface in MBC, can you seek or skip?

no

Okay, then this has nothing to do with the new player interface but, rather, how channels are delivering their content.

To get seeking back for these items you can turn on the download feature in Channel setup in the server dashboard.

That makes sense since I will be playing the file directly instead of streaming it. Thanks, ebr. :)

  • 2 years later...

The Podcasts plugin has been updated with a new configuration screen to match the look and feel of the rest of Emby Server. I think you'll find it much more enjoyable to use and configure now. Thanks.
