Does XBMB3C require a clean installation of XBMC?

Hi,

I tried to install the addon to my existing XBMC installation with centralized MySQL database and libraries already filled with media files.

I tried XBMB3C under both Confluence and Xperience1080 skin, but it doesn't really import anything to the library. I can only click the add-on and get a folder view of everything with no fanart/discart/backdrops etc. Does it require a fresh installation of XBMC to work?

Another question I have is, XBMC can handle bluray ISOs, but I couldn't get it work under XBMB3C, any suggestion?

Hi, I'm using the latest Gotham release. Maybe I misunderstood something. Will XBMB3C automatically add movies, TV shows, music and photos to the corresponding media libraries in XBMC? In my case I can only see the content in folder view by clicking the XBMB3C add-on. When I first enable the add-on it says XBMB3C service is broken and XBMC need to be restarted, I don't know if it matters. In XBMC log I can see many errors which are attached below:

No - XBMC does not add things to your XBMC library - it REPLACES the XBMC library.  I assume you have the MB3 server installed right?

 

Yes - if the service is crashing that is a bad sign.  That needs to be fixed before anything else.

 

If you want to try it - I would try a fresh install.  The MySQL shared database is not really supported by the XBMC team and I don't know what side effects it may have.

Thank you, I just did a fresh installation, to be sure I removed all files under %appdata%/XBMC. I then install XBMB3C add-on and ocnfigure hostname. I still got the error "XBMB3C service has crashed, Please restart XBMC". In log I got the following:

After you insatlled the addon did you restart XBMC?

 

If you get this message after you restart XBMC then turn on Addon logging, in the Xbmb3c addon settings, set loggin to level 1 and then restart XBMC and reproduce the error. Post the full log to pastbin.

After I installed the addon, I had to restart XBMC because I got the error msg "XBMB3C service has crashed, Please restart XBMC". After restarting, I don't get the error msg anymore, but all the libs are not imported to XBMC so I only get folder view when I start the add-on, and there is no movie and TV series in XBMC. I will try again tonight and send the logs here.

 

Another question, does XBMB2C support blu-ray ISO mounting in XBMC? I tried some ISOs, but when I play the movie nothing happens......

The libs will never be "imported" to XBMC, this addon connects to the Media Browser Server and displays the data the server returns, no data is saved or stored locally in XBMC at all.

 

To view what is on your Media Server you need to go into Video Addons in XBMC and select Xbmb3c, when the Xbmb3c addon root menu is shown select Movies or some other section in there, this should then display the data from the Media Browser Server.

 

2nd Question:

If you have the BlueRay added to your Media Server and server as a UNC path then when you play it XBMC should just play it via the UNC share as it would if selected it manually using the XBMC file selection.

In the video it looks like the "Movie" library and "TV series" are natively integrated to XBMC, I don't know if was some tweaks needed in XBMC to archieve it.

In my case, I can go into the XBMB3C video add-on and browse the files in folder mode, but it would be so nice if it integrates natively to XBMC libraries.

Regarding bluray ISO playback, I don't understahd what is UNC path. Could you elabrate on how to do it? Thank you very much in advance!

If you can go into the Addon and browse the items on the server then you have the addon set up ok.

All the rest is down to what Skin you want to use and how you set it it. The video I posted is using a customised skin that is based on the default XBMC skin. That skin is available from our Xbmb3c Add Repository available here:

Download and install the repository and then from that repo install the Confluence Xbmb3c Skin. That should get you up and running.

I am not sure about the blueray ISO as I don't have any, if you have the blueray ISO set up in media browser and it is showing up in xbmb3c but won't play we are going to need a log to try to sort that out.

HI null_pointer, thank you for your help! I downloaded the skin, and it looks good now :-) Regarding the skin I have 3 questions:

1) I don't find photos and TV series buttons, but in library I have them. Is it something not implemented yet?

2) How can I add a Live TV button for NextPVR?

3) For multi-disc releases, how to choose which disc to play?

I also found the problem with iso - I configure XBMB3C to stream the content instead of read the file directly from NAS.

However, when I click on the movie, it plays movie instead of showing me a menus to choose show bluray menu or play the main title like in XBMC. Is it by purpose?

Hi there, not specifically answering your query as there are more than one skin you can try to see if the features you require are there.

 

My only question is why do you want to add a Live TV button? Or is it missing from the Confluence skin? Maybe try the Eminence skin as Live TV is built in and available from the start...

Hi, thank you for your reply! The live tv button is missing from the confluence skin for XBMB3C. I also tried Xperience1080++ and areon, but none of them able to display any movie/music from the MBS. Only confluence works, it gets collections, movies, but not live TV, TV shows, photos and music.

You are using the skins from our repo right?  In some of the skins you need to go into the skin settings are turn on 'MB3 Mode'.

Eminence will also work out the box without needing to set the "MB3 Mode". However for those skins that do..it is simply a matter of setting this in the skin settings.

Yeah Eminence does this, I'll do Xperience1080++ and Aeon MQ5 when i get some spare time.

 

On the subject of Live TV, is somy not referring to the standard xbmc version rather than through the addon? I cannot think someone would want to use Live TV through MB3 when XBMC does it already with far more backends

Haha ok, then he is referring to the standard built in live tv..since we haven't added it to the XBMB3C addon. It's there as default in most skins when a PVR backend is installed.

Yeah Eminence does this, I'll do Xperience1080++ and Aeon MQ5 when i get some spare time.

Hi im85288, thank you! I wasn't aware the MB3 mode need to be configured to make it work.

Regarding TV, I'd like XBMC to handle it, as otherwise MB3 will transcode the live TV stream right?

You are using the skins from our repo right?  In some of the skins you need to go into the skin settings are turn on 'MB3 Mode'.

Yes your better off having XBMC handle your Live TV as the support is far better and actually we do not make it available via the addon for this reason. 

 

As regards file stack support..we do not show menus etc for blurays..only straight into the movie.

Right now it is the skin that does the trick and XBMC library are acutually not replaced by MB library right? And this means it is not possible to use XBMC remote to choose movies/music etc?

Yes the XBMC library is not used at all....ALL of your information (Artwork, Theme music) etc is that of what you have on your MB3 server. In fact it's best to forget totally about the XBMC library..

You use the MB3 web client (or Android client etc) as remote control instead.  XBMC is just use as a skinning and playback engine basically.
