SSL Secure Question

I have setup SSL on Emby using the DNS on my router with Let's Encrypt I just have no idea if my remote users are connected securely.

When I click on this link it takes me to a secured Emby.
Remote (WAN) access: https://xxxxcxx.asuscomm.com/8020

How can I tell when I add a user if they are streaming a secure connection remotely? It's very confusing and a little strange that there just wouldn't be something that indicates it's a secure connection.  Unless I'm not seeing it. I know it says any remote access will use https://xxxxcxx.asuscomm.com/8020. I would like to be able to verify it.

From my understanding no matter what device they use remotely to connect to my media it should connect them to the https: WAN Access.  Is this correct?

Thanks
Randy

The port is what dictates the type of connection.  So, if you disable other non https ports on your router (like 80, 8096, etc), then whoever connects will have no choice, since there no non ssl paths to your server.

Hi there, does your server dashboard display the correct remote address?

Hi Luke,

Yes, Emby is showing https://xxxxcxx.asuscomm.com/8020 as the remote access address. Does this mean anyone connecting outside my network and using something like a Fire Stick is being directed to the https url?

Yes that is the address that your Emby Server will be reporting to the Emby apps. Of course it will not stop your users from manually entering the http address, but that's where the ssl settings come into play to redirect from http to https.

A user just installed Emby on his computer and when we tried to use auto connect with username, password and pin. It would not connect.  When I manually put the https url and the port # in it connected.  In one way it is a good thing because I know it is secure.  Is it not suppose to redirect to the proper URL automatically? I can't remember but does a fire stick offer manual connect. It looks like it is only going to work remotely with manual settings.  Auto connect will not work.
