ThomasTheSpider 2
I've recently started using Emby server and installed a GT 1030 GPU to help with Hardware decode/encode when transcoding. It works for the decode but no hardware encoders show up. My CPU is an i7 3770k so this should have QuickSync hardware encoding also. The hardware detection logs show the following errors despite using the latest 441.87 Nvidia drivers. I've tried the latest server version and the latest beta but same issue. Any ideas? "Log": [{"Level": 16,"Category": 0,"Message": "Cannot load nvEncodeAPI64.dll"},{"Level": 16,"Category": 0,"Message": "Failed loading nvenc functions."},{"Level": 16,"Category": 0,"Message": "The minimum required Nvidia driver for nvenc is 390.77 or newer"},{"Level": 40,"Category": 0,"Message": "1 CUDA capable devices found"} hardware_detection-63715367700.txt
Luke 36999
Hi there, have you followed our hardware acceleration setup guide?
ThomasTheSpider 2
I've been through the guide. QuickSync options being missing now makes sense as I moved the monitor plug. However QuickSync wasn't available for encode before GPU install either? I've attached a log from before GPU install. hardware_detection-63715036464.txt
Happy2Play 8239
Have you seen this chart? The 1030 can only Decode not Encode. https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix But it would appear you are referring to your CPU not showing as a Encoding option not the GPU. ThomasTheSpider 2
@@Luke I understand the GT 1030 can't encode but it should still be able to decode and pass to QuickSync for transcoding right? After some fiddling with plugs and turning iGPU to primary display manually in the BIOS I now have the options I expect, GT1030 for decode and QuickSync for encode. However I still am not able to hardware transcode, it is falling back to software. I've attached a log. ffmpeg-transcode-8b12b914-17d0-418f-b7be-7c985ed58ad9_1.txt
softworkz 3325
This is a currently known problem with 10bit HEVC source videos. Please disable both HEVC decoders, then you'll get accelerated encoding at least until it's fixed.
