Live TV timeout

4.4.0.8 Android TV

Best Answer FordGT90Concept , 31 January 2020 - 11:48 AM

Seems to be fixed, I think as of version 4.4.0.10 assuming 4.4.0.11 installed at midnight. Live TV on Android worked as it did as of last night. Go to the full post

Attached server logs. Submitted Android TV logs via user "Lynn."

What happened:
1) Watching live TV via Quad HD as normal. It was set to hardware transcode.
2) User attempted to change channels. The wheel spun on a black screen until it dropped back to the guide with an error on the bottom.
3) I disabled hardware transcoding and restarted Emby server.
4) User attempted to change channels again. The wheel spun on a black screen until it dropped back to the guide with an error on the bottom.'
5) I signed off and sent logs from the Android TV.
6) Some time passed and I got the logs off the server.

I didn't catch the Android TV version but I'm enrolled in the beta so should be pretty current.

Seems to be working fine but:
1) the mess of directstream ffmpeg logs has me concerned that there's something server-sided happening (or at least it should prevent a cascade of bad things).
2) I've restarted Emby Server twice since it had a confirmed issue on Android TV which may have prevented it from happening again.

Yeah... these logs...

That device should have been off since around 6:25. Why is it spamming direct streams 30 minutes later? I think that corresponds to when I restarted Emby Server the second time (would have been step #7 above).

So... update...

NEITHER Shield works for Live TV.
NOT Emby via Quad HD
NOT Emby via HDHR
NOT HDHR app via HDHR

Live TV is broken across two Shields in the exact same way. Both are running 8.0.1.

Perhaps this is a beta server issue...?

18:09:28.435 Streamcopy requested for output stream 0:0, which is fed from a complex filtergraph. Filtering and streamcopy cannot be used together.

Sounds like a problem with your tuner then?

It couldn't be because they (talking 4 different hardware tuners) worked on everything except the Shields.

That said, it mysteriously started working again today and I don't know why. I assume they downloaded something from the Play Store when they were not in use.

Issue is still present as described.
1) Took over two minutes to tune using QuadHD.
2) Tried to change channel and ended up on HDHR by accident, error.
3) Tried to change channel using QuadHD, error.
4) Checked HDHR app, error.

Sent logs from the Shield under user Lynn. Attached all of the logs for today from the server. After 5 pm is when the issue presented.

It is this error again:

18:09:28.435 Streamcopy requested for output stream 0:0, which is fed from a complex filtergraph. Filtering and streamcopy cannot be used together.

@softworkz - is that not an error generated by either us or ffmpeg?

No, this is about a failure to play, not about taking a long time to start.

This is a beta bug. It's already fixed for the next beta.

Thanks for reporting!

In case you want to check whether a transcoding problem in a current beta release might be related to a beta change, you can install the DiagnosticsPlugin  https://mediabrowser...gnosticsPlugin/ and activate "Use Legacy Command Building".

No, this is about a failure to play, not about taking a long time to start.

That happened once on the Shield immediately before it began doing the timeout issue.

This is a beta bug. It's already fixed for the next beta.

Server or Android TV? Is it available now?

It is taking longer because we fail the first time and then re-try a different way.

It is only related to android tv client tried apple tv, ios and ipad and all start instantly so it is something new in the beta server than android tv needs to be updated. .9 still same issue.

No, again, it is due to the error that it is taking longer.  All the other apps start out transcoding so they don't encounter the error.

4.4.0.9 seems to have fixed it with limited testing.
