OutOfMemory Error Library Scan

Installed emby on synology from community packages. Settings page shows it is the latest version.

Added my tv shows folder, which contains about 30 series -> No Problem with scan

Added my movie folder with about 1100 movies and already available .nfo and images for Kodi -> OutOfMemory while scanning. Synology resource monitor shows constant memory increase while scanning until it reaches 100%.

Crash is always reproducable.

Memory is 8 GB.

It is a single parent folder, every movie is in a subfolder. How should i add them in batches? Create 1000 libraries? You are kidding...

It should be possible without such workarounds, come on such a function MUST NOT be so memory consuming.

This method is unacceptable.

I really would like to see the code, this must be inefficient.

Kodi handles even more files, without problems....

Another problem is, emby does not create nfo files and images in the mediafolder, when a (small) folder is successfully scanned

I end up with having only 0 byte files. It can not be a permission problem, otherwise the 0 byte files couldnt be created.

I dont have the error log at the moment, because i gave up frustrated and uninstalled emby ;-)

I remember a smbexception with cause "ressource is used by another process" (or similar).

I even tried it with the latest docker emby image from another machine and remote access to the synology system -> no change

It was a short but very frustrating trip in the emby universe for me.

If you are interested in solving the issues, i am ready to test.

Hi there, try removing the smb paths from Emby Server library setup.

Instead, use the tools in the Synology OS to mount the SMB path to a local share. Then add the local share path to Emby Server. Please see if that performs better. Thanks.
