Few Display Issues in Movies & TV Views

Since the latest version (3.0.10) in the Windows version I have found some alignment and missing details in the Movie & TV views.

As per image below, it appears the alignment of the logo is out, the poster and information are offset down with a gap, no taglines are showing anymore (although they are present in the metadata) and also the description of the Movies and TV shows is now truncated so most of the text does not display (I would really like to see my full descriptions back again please without having to press a button every time to read).

Couldn't see any other reports of this issue on the forums, but I am seeing this on all 3 of my PCs. All run with Auto view in settings and generally full screen. Happens the same on 4k and 1080p resolutions.

Hope it can be resolved.

Thank you,

AD

So, as the logo has moved down - is everything else going to be shifted up? About 30% of the vertical space is just empty now (on TV details screens).

The gap at the top varies - either affected by the thumbnail size or perhaps the logo size:

(what's going on with my screenshots? They're fine at my end - is it the png optimizer?)

I agree with Aussiedroid, the new interface is not a good move.

The logo was better up high (don't care whether it matches other apps, I don't use other apps except ET for XBox and the change is seen there, too). Now it's out of place and looks awkward.

The "Read more" button is silly. I didn't need to click before and could read even long text fields by scrolling down a little. Now even relatively short text is truncated. And, the "Read more" button only appears after a while in ET for Windows. When I first open the app it's not there, but if I navigate a little it eventually shows up.

So, there's my 2 cents worth. Don't like it, would prefer that you go back to the way it was before.

This interface change is so horrible I thought it was a bug. It's as if you increased the zoom by hitting Ctrl & + a few too many times...

I don't even mind WHERE you moved the logo to, I can't even say I don't like it, nor do I even have a problem for your reasoning (being consistent with the other apps) but the insane zoom or whatever other changes you've made here are terrible.

There is no zoom. Why do you feel the way? Have you checked your system zoom settings? Maybe that's what changed?

As I said, I thought it was a bug, or that I indeed zoomed it.

But of course I checked it, I even mentioned the keyboard shortcut to have zoomed in if I had done so.

I can't provide a before/after comparison, but here's an after:

After looking at this shot some more, it seems your choice to move the logo to the right is just bad for ET because there's just no room for it. That's why it seemed at first as if things were zoomed in. Things are naturally larger since this is a ten foot interface, leaving no room for the logo.

Contrast to how things look on the web client today:

On my 1440p desktop, the smaller size text, even if this was on a 1080p display, leaves more than enough room for the logo on the right. I wish the logo was larger even, but that's a whole different discussion altogether...

Either way, the logic of consistency between different interfaces CAN'T work here. No matter the resolution, Emby Theater scales everything to the same proportions, from 1080p, 1440p, and even on my 4K (2160p) TV. So the logo could only go at the top where it was.

And also, the read more button is useless in most cases. Especially in situations where there was more than enough room for the extra text.

If you wanna keep this feature, it needs better smarts to know when to truncate the text.

I'm not enamored with it, either. The new logo position is obscure, and at first I thought it had simply been removed.

Well I think its much better, though maybe could do with a bit of fine tuning.

btw, the background is more visible but graduated on a movie screen but faint and ungraduated for Collections - deliberate or just haven't got there yet ?

Get rid of, or make optional, the poster.

Well now we can have the debate across all of our TV apps instead of just one app. Whether you like the logo position or not, there's no reason for the apps to display it differently.

I already explained why that cannot be. There's no room for the logo the way things are arranged, due to the increased size due to the 10 foot interface.

You'd have to reduce the size of all the UI elements to make room for the logo where it is. Which isn't good for a ten foot interface.

Once again, NO ONE asked for this. It looks like a hot mess.

Even IF it fit, it's still not consistent with how it looks on the Roku or Android TV platforms (I can't speak on the Apple TV because I don't own one). That's still not consistent across apps.

So either you change how ET looks entirely to ACTUALLY match the other TV interfaces, or you scrap this unwanted change.

All this time and work is wasted.

Still better than the previous version. Anything that shows the backdrop better is an improvement.

I don't much care about the backdrop, I want information. The logo is important. I don't really have any big issues with how it is now, except for the logo. The purpose of the logo is meant to be an artistic announcement to the media, like posters and other such signage. The backdrop tells me nothing. It's just a random picture. Or could possibly be a spoiler, as so many backdrops are downloaded and used in succession.

Different people different likes. Everything is still (I think) still there, just rearranged a bit. It seems reasonable to me to have an image on the left, an image on the right and text in the middle, just seems to be a bit of a problem with positioning, especially with the variable width of the text bit (and I guess the logo as well).

I guess options would be best, but they do tend to multiply...

The logo needs to be bold and at the top. Have you noticed when watching a show, the logo is often splashed across the whole screen? It's meant to get your attention, and the way it is now it might as well not be there.

Well, I've noticed logos at the start of programs, but I thought most of them were interminable lists of the 15 production companies required to make anything these days...

Just to add to this, since the change to the position of the logo image - in the Xbox One Theater app, sometimes this move causes the Date Added to shift to the next line.

I think the Added date looks very much out of place now.

It doesn't happen on every movie, but it does happen a lot, obviously based on the size of logo image i suppose.

Not sure what your point is....?

I just meant that I presume you were talking about say a toy story logo appearing at the beginning of Toy Story (if it does that). Was just saying the logos I remember more are a Columbia logo, followed by a Bad Robot logo, followed by Wingnut logo, followed by...
