Any progress on this? I'm having the same problem with CR2 files. They're shown correctly orientated in Windows Explorer and every photo app I use, but always shown with the longest side horizontal in Emby server and client.

HI, can you please zip up an example image and attach it here? Thanks.

Zipped file attached (unfortunatly it is 25 MB)

In ExifTool the Orientation is 270 CW.

CR2 image that does not rotate.zip 24.83 MB · 1 download

OK what's happening is the skia graphics library that we're using isn't giving us the rotation information for this image. We'll have to look into other methods of obtaining it. Thanks.

Any update on this issue ?

On many photo libraries, Thumbnails are correct orientation but the actual images are displayed upside down on the LG TV.

Using the ExifTool to change the orientation tag has no effect.

So far the answer from devs has been "deal with it".

But the dev already stated the tools that are currently being used isn't seeing the required info so an anwer has been given and it isn't that easy to just drop in something new without breaking everything else the current tools are supporting.  So yes it can be a waiting game.

May be so. But this seems like a basic issue.

In my case, they are simple 300KB Jpeg images.

Why does Emby for anything with these images but to simply ask the the LG TV to simply display it.

There should be an option to disable auto-rotate (or any other image manipulation) by the server or the LG App

That is what is happening as Emby cannot read rotation/orientation and presents what is knows.  So it get presented sideways.

can not read from zipped file so it is lost.

tiff:Orientation="8"

Windows presents the image sideways also.  But Photoshop displays it correctly.

Thx. It would be good to know where the fix is on the priority list.

BTW, one work around is to convert the JPG's to TIFF format. But, that's impractical.

HI, we're looking into our options for this. Thanks.

It's been looked into for 4 years now.  The initiating date on this thread is 2020.  Y'all can pretty much forget about this getting fixed if it hasn't been done in 4 years.  Stack this on top of the often cited but never delivered live TV rework.

Can you pls list these options ?

If there no realistic chance of fixing this issue after 4 years, pls be honest and tell us so that we don't waste your and our time on these forums. Thx

We may have to look at alternative image processing tools for certain formats. Thanks:

So why would you start doing that now, after 4 years of this thread.  Did something change?  I guess I don't understand what has been going on with this thread for the last 4 years.  I gave up on it a couple years ago.  Honestly, I gave up on bug fixes for the product in its entirety.  Many of the bug threads on the forum extend back for more than a year.  The bugs apparently don't all get tracked.  You guys follow no release schedule or plan for bugs to be fixed by a certain release.  From my knothole it just does not seem to be organized whatsoever.
