Generate SSL certificate with ASUS router for enabling https on Emby server

The only way you can skip setting up a certificate in Emby is if you have a reverse proxy handling it for you, in which case there's an option in Emby to indicate that.

hello everyone! ive been following along with the steps and ive got a pretty good idea of how to do this... EXCEPT when i download my cert and key PEM zip. do i unzip the files? if so, what directory should i move them too? If not same question should i move the zip from downloads and move to directory?

thank for the time.

THIS IS WHERE IM STUK AND IS TO VAGUE

"Then i converted the cert and key file to a pfx file with "Win64OpenSSL_Light-1_1_0L" https://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html and imported this in to Emby:

I used this command:

"openssl pkcs12 -inkey key.pem -in cert.pem -export -out output.pfx"

So did anyone get this setup to work using the reverse proxy handling and asus router?

I am running emby as a docker on unraid:

- I set up a domain using the router and got a certificate

- I used the same domain on my emby settings and set it to reverse proxy handling (without having to add the certificate here)

- Besides this the router has port 8096 and 8920 forwarded to the unraid server.

When I log in thru the website, it says unable to reach server. Anyone know what setting needs to be changed?

For now the only option I was able to find is to just use a direct link to my server using http instead of using the login page on emby.media since that seems to force ssl each time.

Did you setup the reverse proxy for input on 8096 and 8920?

If you're doing that I would try bypassibg the proxy and set the router to forward directly to the IP Emby is setup and running on.
