unisoft 272
So I have a library of defined MUSIC VIDEOS as the content type. On Apple TV, LG TV app, Theatre app is displays correctly. It actually defaults to FOLDER view, it just doesn't state that on the screen (excellent so far!). On the latest Android app AND the Emby Web Client, it shows another view by default of "All Videos". This gives a jumbled up list of all music videos. In these Android and web client apps, there is an on screen option for "Folders" and when you select this option, it shows it like Apple TV app, LG TV app and Emby Theatre app. There is no option to make that view "sticky" and remembered, and I do not see why there are options on the screen, and it doesn't just do it like the Apple TV app, LG App and Emby Theatre Luke, can we have the Android app and web client hanged to copy Emby Theatre app/Apple TV/LG App? Here is the difference in pictures: Apple TV app, LG App and Emby Theatre doing the view for Music Videos Library using default view of "Folders" but without stating it (excellent!): Here is the Android app, iOS app and Web client app defaulting to ALL VIDEOS view with extra option to select for FOLDERS view. Horrible onscreen use of complicating the UI for the user. If it defaulted to the "Folders" view, or could be made sticky, the output would be similar to the above image for the other apps (but still have the silly labelling for 'Music Videos' and 'Folders' options shown) Can you see how the FOLDERS view by default option works better, as a large, if not most people, would have their videos defined by a folder structure (I used genres) rather than seeing a large list of alphabetical songs. You normally want to see GENRE then an ARTIST with all the songs under the ARTIST so they get grouped together. Could the Android and web app be addressed to match the other apps please and not years into the future? In my mind the options for a VIEW should be under "..." menu or a settings cog icon not listed as text menu option. Luke 37045
The horizonal home screen is actually the inconsistent part. It's the other examples that are the correct ones.
unisoft 272
The horizonal home screen is actually the inconsistent part. It's the other examples that are the correct ones. Hi Luke, I get that vertical and horizontal are different views, but it still looks odd for the reasons I describe for the vertical. Why would I want to see a bunch of un-grouped music videos (100's/1000's), when logically, defaulting to the FOLDERS view would show the correct intention. (In my case genres but then sorted by Artist then song) AND why can't it be a sticky option if you wanted to keep the view by shows. Its very Plex looking. The existing method in the Horizontal view of defaulting to the FOLDERS view (and without putting silly menu options on the screen) is more polished and professional. Sometimes Emby keeps veering away from a 10 foot interface that is simple to more of a computer application with lots of options on the normal UI for Media Center use. unisoft 272
Thanks for the feedback. Does this mean you will either change to go into a folder view by default to match the horizontal view, or provide a sticky option setting for web app, iOS and Andrioid apps? From my example, its clear that anyone with a decent number of music videos would not want just a big list of songs presented as the default view when going into a music video library. Look at my 2 images, its clear which one is logical. Why would anyone just want a list of song titles that aren't grouped by album, artist or genre? You would be scrolling through 100s/1000s of videos (songs) to get what you want if you have a decent number of music videos. Apple TV, LG, Samsung apps get it correct in the horizontal view. Luke 37045
Try clicking over to the folders tab and then you should see the same thing.
unisoft 272
Try clicking over to the folders tab and then you should see the same thing. But that's what I mean, the view isn't remembered (sticky) and you have to do that every time. Either have a sticky option, or make that the default view in the vertical app (the all song default view doesn't make sense if you look at my screenshots).
