Silentalero 5
So ive had my current setup for about 10 years, and its become time to bring the hardware up to date. The computer is solely used for hd space and emby server. At most 4 1080p streams coming off it at once Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz 4gb ram onboard video card. What do you guys suggest for another build to handle another 10+ years. Micro ATX case. I have some ideas in mind, but i know this place is crawling with info about what works best with EMBY. Jdiesel 1113
I would say stick with a decent CPU (AMD right now) and add in a decent GPU down the road when you need it. The 4K HDR landscape is still a bit uncertain at the moment and I highly doubt that anything purchased today will still be relevant in 10 years. The bonus is that it is easy to swap out a GPU that will be revelant at any point so as long as you have a decent CPU as a base you should easily get the same life out of it as your Q9550. A good AMD CPU will do everything you need plus more right now. Other option would be to get a Intel CPU and use the iGPU. I personally have a 8700k which is plenty for my usage and I don't require any external GPU. It is simple and works for me.
