elcabong 48
is it possible to use the "Device Name" under Settings>Services>General in xbmc instead of setting "Device Name" in XBMB3C-addon-Settings>Network as the default, but can be changed in the addon? xnappo 1592
Maybe, I'll see if I can get at that variable. xnappo
xnappo 1592
@@elcabong I have implemented this in the Git. - DeviceName defaults to XBMB3C - If Network name is available, DeviceName is changed to Network name. - You can still override the network name in settings This was done in the service, so a restart is required to test. xnappo Edited June 13, 2014 by xnappo
elcabong 48
awesome, thanks for looking into this. it works with one issue found so far. this is using an existing build, not one with blank settings, so i removed the name of the machine i had in the xbmb3c settings. after xbmc restart, in mb3 web interface, the DLNA player shows up with the correct new name from xbmc settings, however the "XBMC" device listed in mb3 still has the old title from xbmb3c settings. i changed xbmc settings > device name, and the DLNA was updated to the new one, but the XBMC label stayed on the old one. il start with fresh user settings and report back. ---- on a fresh start (removed xbmb3c settings folder) the computer name, not the xbmc device name, is pulled into xbmb3c. in mb3 web interface, "XBMC" displays my computer name, and "DLNA" shows the correct xbmc device name Edited June 13, 2014 by elcabong
xnappo 1592
You might need to restart the server? Also - to try what it would be like with a fresh start - change the name to 'XBMB3C' not ''. xnappo [EDIT] Yeah - tested myself - needed a server restart to pick up the new name.
